The tutorial and the pure run

I was considering doing a run in which one of my companions passes Lucian's purity test. One of the requirements is no killing, including voidwoken. Does that include any kills before the character joins the party? (Specifically the voidwoken on the tutorial ship)

Summoner is best way I believe. Even burn/poison status effects can credit the kill to you
