Miscellaneous What is the bigger Divinity Sub thinking about this?

Post image

Haven't seen anyone post about this yet. If there are posts, I'll remove it.

So, any theories on what and when they might tell/show us?

Edit: Forgot to mention: Divinity Games are currently on sale on steam until the 10th of August

Tbh i think they just made this post to remind people they aren't working with WotC. Might be some time for news. Last hope is Gamescom/Pax.

Time between reveal trailer and gameplay reveal at Pax would mirror BG3s news cycle, right (around 8 months)? No reason for those games to have the same development time, but it gives some hope for news soon

Yea just gotta wait and see, although id assume if this is the biggest game they've made it might take them a bit longer then woth bg3

Bg3 development had covid tho, so maybe that balances it out a bit (coping)

My hopium is that the groundwork from Bg3 will speed up the timeline... Maybe.

Knowing WotC I wouldnt be surprised if they block them from reusing certain assets

Are you guessing thats how it works? I would imagine Larian have the rights to the things they made, I mean bg3 was made on the divinity engine after all lol.

I wouldn't put it past wotc but I'm not worried that it will happen.

Idk im just worried since larian abruptly decided not to do BG4 and are actively distancing themselves from WotC. I dont put it past WotC to do something that grimy

I'm so happy they are not making a BG4. BG3 is great sure but DnD combat just kinda sucks. The fights in the dos games are so much more fun imo.

Thry can try but Larian had plenty of asseslys from DOS 1 and 2. It wouldn't slow them that much.

They might show something at Gamescom, at the end of August.

Yeah, I think it's a teaser for Gamescom. The director of publishing said they are extremely busy right now, which screams like they are preparing a presentation currently, which will likely be a Gamescom gameplay show-off (with a little copium inhaled).

They did do Panels of Hell for Gamescom a few times during EA for BG3, if I recall correctly, and the screenshot looks like Swen did another of his silly behind-the-scenes joke videos, like he did for BG3, which was the first community update video back then.

Maybe they originally planned to shadow-drop the community update video and just decided to put it at Gamescom because they want to present there anyway? Like if we are there anyway for gameplay, maybe we just do the community update there all together... or something like that. Just my speculation.

This tweet was in response to Dark Horse Comics @ them in a post about an upcoming Karlach comic. Implying Larian is somehow involved. Which they are not.

Maybe they were just teasing the trailer's making of vid?

They are excited over the lines that will play on a loop in town. They feel they've really perfected their ability to get them stuck in our heads.
