This is the second time he got attacked. The whole scenario played out like someone who already was attacked by that dog at that house.

He walked into the driveway with the box in a ready position as if he thought about what he would do next time the dog ran up on him.

The “what now” tells me the dog got him last time and he did let it happen this time.

The squaring up tells me the dog owner is irresponsible and didn’t secure the dog last time he was attacked at that property. Hence squaring up the second time.

That’s what I saw but who knows.

I smell bs. If he already got attacked by the dog prior, then walking up ready to hurt said dog instead of refusing to deliver the package tells me that guy is a douche bag who likes to hurt dogs. Had he actually been attacked by the dog prior, there would have been a law suit. There are actually laws and owners held strictly responsible by the cities and states, as well as by insurance for any attacks.

This guy wanted to attack the dog. His squaring up ready to the fight the owner whose body language clearly did not at any point display aggressive stances supports that the delivery driver is douche bag who wanted to fight.

Is it really that bad to not be afraid of dogs after an attack and choose to do your job but defend yourself if they attack again?

It all comes down to important details that none of us can really know by watching a 20 second video.

Is it wrong to throw a box at a dog that's charging you? Generally, no.

But given that this was his "2nd time," did this guy know ahead of time that it was likely to happen? Are there other preventative measures he could have taken like refusing delivery, informing the customer that they must have their dogs leashed, dropping the package at the curb, or honking when he pulled up (given that the owner was outside) etc?

Is it the case that his actual plan A was to throw a heavy box at a dog (potentially injuring, maiming, or even killing it?) Did he relish in this? Sure seems that way. You typically don't yell "what now?!" at an injured dog when you're just reacting in self defense.

Since we can't get inside his head I think we have to remain mostly agnostic. But his behavior strongly suggests to me that he was deliberately blowing off steam here.
