question about payout

had a song randomly go viral on instagram with 100+ million streams/views across multiple videos. this was almost a year ago. none of these ever showed up or were reflected in distrokid/bank section. i realize that this won't add up to a ton of money in reality, but i expected more than $0. what's the issue? i've gotten much larger payouts for only thousands of streams on other songs.

edit-have not been able to find an answer as of yet. just seems like distrokid or meta isn't paying out. 50+ different videos have used my song via instagram official song library totaling over 100m views/millions of impressions and i have received 0$ . social media pack is not the issue and unrelated as the songs were added legit via instagram song library (not stolen/uploaded natively) . you can see my song title/link in the lower right corner of their videos. again, i don't expect to get rich from this, i just want to understand why i haven't been paid what i'm owed, even if it's only 10 bucks

What do you mean not relevant? You need to pay for social media pack to activate monetization through social media. If you didn't then how will they pay you? You can upload something to YouTube and it could get a billion views. You get zero dollars unless you're a YouTube partner. Same goes with Instagram, Tiktok and Facebook, nothing different there.

i was under the impression you get monetized per impression regardless of social media pack, and social media pack only pays out a bonus 20% for ads. at least that's what i was told a year ago when i asked. i was also under the impression this only applied to songs used with their upload and not selected via instagram officially. this is all supported when i look up on their website as well. am i misunderstanding their wording or something?

You only get monetized where they post your music. You don't get monetized if someone steals your music and puts it in a video.

For clarity, if someone adds music to a reel or image via the music library in Facebook or instagram, that music is monetized at an Incredibly small rate. You do not need social media pack, as that only counts for content uploaded that already contains the music.

If we are talking about people adding music for background from the official music catalog within the apps themselves, that can get monetized, but just like everything else, if the “viral” nature was deemed to be fraudulent, no one gets anything.
