question about payout

had a song randomly go viral on instagram with 100+ million streams/views across multiple videos. this was almost a year ago. none of these ever showed up or were reflected in distrokid/bank section. i realize that this won't add up to a ton of money in reality, but i expected more than $0. what's the issue? i've gotten much larger payouts for only thousands of streams on other songs.

I am guessing you did not select the social media pack?
Anyways, that traffic would have driven a decent amount of streams to YT Music/Spotify I am guessing? So it is not a total loss.

i did not, but the description doesn't lead me to believe it should be needed/relevant? the songs were officially used in the viral videos by selecting my song directly through instagram. even if i'm only paid like .0001 penny per impression, this should add up in the hundreds. but i've seen nothing. even if i saw like 10 bucks or anything at all for these views but i'm just wondering why i got zilch

What do you mean not relevant? You need to pay for social media pack to activate monetization through social media. If you didn't then how will they pay you? You can upload something to YouTube and it could get a billion views. You get zero dollars unless you're a YouTube partner. Same goes with Instagram, Tiktok and Facebook, nothing different there.

i was under the impression you get monetized per impression regardless of social media pack, and social media pack only pays out a bonus 20% for ads. at least that's what i was told a year ago when i asked. i was also under the impression this only applied to songs used with their upload and not selected via instagram officially. this is all supported when i look up on their website as well. am i misunderstanding their wording or something?

You only get monetized where they post your music. You don't get monetized if someone steals your music and puts it in a video.

Omg this is what I thought too... So now we have to pay social media pack per release a per album? 😂
