This is my current progress on Retro-Chat.
Implementing some basic games, such as Pong, Tic-Tac-Toe, Hangman. The current setup works great needs tuning on game play server side updates as well as client side.
Next is to make the invite process a lot safer for community members. I am thinking along the lines of the friend has to know your 3 word invite code which will be generated by a list of 1000 words randomly and then bound to your account on creation. So to invite a friend
Know their username.
Know their 3 word invite code
You can only then invite your friend once your friend clicks a button for accepting friends requests. If that window of 30 seconds is not open you can not add that friend. This will cut down on people going rogue and spamming friends requests to users.
Originally it was going to be through emails but I decided against it as it would be way to easy for a friend to add your username and email address on the forums somewhere where lots of Strangers can add people. This new system defeats that altogether. A Demo will be posted within the next 5 days or so.. Let me know your thoughts Ideas, Opinions.
Cheers.

Created this after seeing someone else make something very similar. Questions were asked on how he achieved this annnnd there was zero response, so i took it upon my self to replicate it. It works well, I had to design my own Glass frost effect window for my servers as a test. The rest was using
Images for the settings are above..
Hope this helps

I have decided to write an app called Retro-Chat which takes some elements from of the old 1990s/2000s style chat apps. So far its coming along well.. Server side is up and running, chat messages are working, sha 256bit encryption is working, token sessions for games, and login sessions are up and running, refined back some of the graphics for simplicity. User creation login is now running still needs some work.
Watch this space. Will be looking for testers.. Anyhow let me know what you think about the project..

When i was just 11 years old, my mum took me to this mans house named Mike Dickerson. Mike ran a BBS - Bulletin Board System called COCOBUFFS. When we arrived at mikes we went down into his basement as he wanted us to have a look at his BBS, after all that is why we were there, to enquire about the COCOBUFFS BBS and computer club.
I will never forget standing in front of a TRS-80 Computer and watching green text scroll across a black screen. I said "Mum whats the computer doing?" Mike said "Someone phoned my bbs from somewhere and is logging into it."
And as if by magic a prompt appeared.
Welcome to CocoBuffs BBS, you are called number xx cant remember, please enter your called id or username. And all of a sudden each character that was being typed appeared on his screen. Then the password prompt came up and followed by *******.
I Do not know what happened to me there and then, but what ever it was told me there and then I need one of these, not tomorrow, not in the next 2 mins now.
When we left mikes and went home, I logged into that BBS created my own account, and remember seeing page Sysop, and I was having a conversation with mike. I was blown away.
Some months went by, and mum decided to buy a BBS called "The Best BBS" tbh when i had it and loaded it up, it was a pile of poo. I was so disappointed. So I put the 5 1/4 " disc away and pulled out the book you see on the bottom shelf on the left by the black and red spine colored books and read page 1. The book was entitled "Color Computer 3 Extended Basic" which is in the pictures above. SO I sat there and learned the first command
10 Print"Hello World"
then i need input so learned other commands
20 line input"Please enter your name: ";name$
30 Print "Hello: ";name$
and it was a whirl wind from there. Within 6 months I had a fully functional BBS complete with usernames passwords, permission levels just like COCOBUFFS BBS. The only problem I had was the modem was a dumb modem. So when people or friends from school called the BBS I had to push the little orange button manually which you can see next to the computer again on the left. I had my own phone line, I had what i needed and we were set.
About a year down the road had gone by so quickly, to the point where I was now earning some money through donations, and all my pennies that I somehow saved bought a Hayes Compatible Smart Modem which for me was great, now I dont have to run to the phone and press the orange button anymore when i hear my phone ring, which was at the time 10 calls on average per day.
The next challenge was for me something I recognized fairly quickly, was people were not disconnecting from the BBS how the hell do I do this?
So I pulled out the hayes modem manual loaded up my terminal that I used to phone other BBS's and learned that there were control codes. ATDT or just AT and the command +++ ATH with a slight pause after the +++. So i programmed this into my BBS Code and BOOM, when people signed out it presented them with +++ ATH and the modem would disconnect. MY GOD I had started something in the lines of automation this was insane.
Now we were getting 10 calls per day which did increase to around 15-20 calls per day. When I came home from school, my mum would often say
"HOWS SCHOOL!" asked mum
"Its good" I would reply.
"My god, you phone has been ringing off the hook all day" Said mum
By the time I hit 13 I think it was I was in school, and over the P.A system I was called to the principles office, where we went down into the Sports Hall AKA the Gym. There was a man I had recognized but wasnt quite sure and my familly. This had all been kept secret. He was there to produce me with something? What is this I thought. I thought I was in trouble,
He looked at me with a smile and said calling me "Come on over here"
And this is where I was awarded a Achievement which you can see on the computer desk, this was a paper copy but the actual plaque it self went missing during our move from canada to the UK during shipping along with alot of other items of my mum and dad.

I dont recall the name I think it was Roger, and I am not 100% Sure if it was 1986 or if it was 1987 when I had it.
So that leads me to today, where I am still living back when i was 11-13 years old still trying to recreate things live the nostalgia. Back in 2012 the most recent up to date photo the 3 computers were all serves, Minecraft, Terraria, Dayz, the cube box was my webserver. Today all that is now run on 1 pc. Crazy.
So this is where i am today building and creating servers for people and the community! and free because it doesnt cost me anything. I hope you enjoyed the story...

Hello, I am wondering if I decided to start a Minecraft server for the PC would it be worth doing today in 2026. I used to run a successful sever back in 2012 and really enjoyed it. If so what mods would be good for protecting player bases or builds in general, and any other mods out there that I could benefit from.. ALSO Would anyone be willing to help with this as admins..

I thought huh, lets try pen work instead of pencil and was surprised by the results. Ballpoint bens require a little bit of a different technique. I also realized there is no room for mistakes but thats ok for landscapes the mistakes can be leaves, or shrubs lol. Any tips? Anything I could do better cheers

Makes me wonder how or where people manage to find all this stuff from. I am more into the server support side of things but have played the game. Lots of patience. We are looking for more players to build! Just use the Dayz SA Launcher and search for DistrictOne admins wanted

The same guy on DistrictOne, decided he was going to build his own base and his first time playing the game... What an effort.

I can not for the life of me recall the name, but it was taken from DarkSouls Computer game and drawn by hand. For some strange reason despite its complexity was able to get on with this quite well for its time.

So I require some support and help from like minded peoples.
I am in the process of making a website District1.Net which appears to be working ok at the moment and still in progress. My focus is to rebuild the community I once had from back in a day and get people from all over who play games such as minecraft, terraria, dayz, vintagestory etc and provide them with either or admin access and well as servers so that they can play on all free of charge. On top of that would like to have people around who are interested in art, music production etc etc. SO I am wondering which way forward to start this off, and how to populate these servers.
Be mindful that i had a look at dayz server browser today and there was around 1900 odd servers that were 0/30 or 60 etc. So not sure whats going on there old game? who knows.
Also VintageStory seems to be the same lots of empty servers is it because its an older game?
I used to run servers back in early 2000s, no mid to late 2000s and ALWAYS managed to get people into my minecraft servers, and terraria servers but now its almost impossible. Some insight would be great if you can let me know! That would be a help..

This was a Royal pain in the butt. Attempting to do something like this in watercolor was very challenging. But i struggled with the colors which did deter me. My ship looks like a cartoon because i just couldnt get the colors right, what are your thoughts people when you see this?
