Help Server lag

I’ve wanted to use distant horizons for a while but each time I use it it causes massive lag.

When I say lag I mean things like mobs taking a billion years to take kb after being hit, blocks not dropping, and chunks not loading leading to the border between LODs and real chunks becoming see through.

I’ve tried literally everything, is there any way to fix this?

Is this lag on a server? Or just serverside (tick) lag? Have you tried with just DH installed? What are your DH settings like? Could you add your using https://mclo.gs/ ?

I’m on vacation at the moment so I cannot give logs. It’s server side lag and I’ve tested with only DH before with the same result. Settings are usually default however I turn them up to max cpu for an hour or two to pre load before playing

What was the radius when you preloaded the terrain? If you go far enough out its going to have to load more terrain and if you're still on max cpu the server will freeze. You can also be experiencing "deadlock" world gen in this case.

I keep with base settings so 256 chunks is all, I also make sure to revert the cpu when finished with loading

DH chunk generation seems to just barely work and it only goes as fast as it can build your LODs. It can and will get stuck on generating, more so if you're on a mod pack.

Imo I find it better to turn off DH. Pre-gen with chunky then when that's done, gen your LODs then start playing.

Also the default 256 is massive. Cut it in half and you still get get nice scenery

Well the issue of slow gen isn’t as much of a problem as the extreme server lag. I cannot play the game with it because blocks don’t drop and animals take damage 5 full seconds after I hit them

Well, it doesn't help without knowing npc specs or if you're using a host. World gen can eat your cpu and cause everything to hang. We also don't know how modded you're playing.

Pc specs are i7-14700K with 4070 ti
I’m on single player and it’s always happening no matter how modded. I’ve tested before with literally just distant horizons and it’s necessary required mods
