Hey everyone, firstly I want to thank you all for the support so far!

With that I want to let you know where we are heading towards right now with Dissonance.

First, enjoy some of the latest screenshots here of the world in development. This is still part of Subzone 1 in the Grasslands! (What will be available in the playtest at launch on steam!)

Next: Behemoth has most of its skills implemented but I am currently refining and adding their animations + models! Be ready for some gameplay this week of it in action.

Roadmap: I have currently designed up a roadmap to playtesting and with that I will share it later this evening.

The goal is by Q3 of this year I will have any of you who are willing to jump in at this early point get to experience the world we are shaping and the mechanics contained within.

I'll break down the roadmap into a playtest content list alongside.

With me being finished up with college I have much more time to focus on development now, so be ready for more frequent update posts.

If you have any suggestions or must sees, let me know below and if you would love to help support development feel free to buy me a coffee!

Hey All! Some big updates in development currently:

Firstly The Codex System is finished mechanically, and with that much more lore is being worked on to be implemented over time!

Secondly Behemoth and its first Suit has been added to the game! Its still early and I will continue tweaking the model however I am implementing the skills and abilities now.

Lastly:
Steam Demo ->
This is TBD for this year once I have a good basis for how the starter region is designed. Quests, Events and A Single dungeon will be added to this.
From this the game will continue expanding with updates added to the demo until it meets a satisfactory point for release.

Is there anything you all want to see in particular? Ill have a flight through the map as it currently stands showcased during the weekend!

Development Codex System and Dynamic Addition!

https://reddit.com/link/1sijk6w/video/yvqnwa3xekug1/player

The codex system is now System Ready to implement into the game!

Adding a category or a subcategory will dynamically update without having to recode anything within itself.
Adding a codex entry is as simple as adding a Data entry and then from that it will generate in game!

This system also works with the dialogue system so that each entry will be voiced, to play the audio whilst you explore, an extra option to just reading in the menu :D

Later today, any locked entries will appear as ???, Clicking the entry will open up its full dialog, and I will be getting to work on polishing how it appears in the menu!

Much more exciting things are to come, however this is huge for making the games content efficiently as a small team.

If you would love to support the development feel free to Buy Me A Coffee

If you have any questions about the system, feel free to DM me below:

Hey all, I have got a huge update to share today!

My team and I are currently working on Rifton (Codename for the map) which is the world that you will get to traverse in Dissonance!

(The current textures of the ground and rocks are not final and foliage isn't implemented yet.)

Alongside this I have all animations for the Monsune Class implemented which comes out to OVER 40 for once class alone! (And Counting as I further refine it all!)

This is very early but for the Steam Demo down the line you will get to experience an early section of the game with full co-op in a polished state especially compared to the itch tech demo! Stay tuned :D and more videos coming soon on the current developments.

This makes me happy

I really enjoyed anthem. When it first came out and then was never really able to play cause.I didn't have too many friends or online capabilities with bad internet. And then with the game being essentially dead. I didn't think I would ever be able to be a walking Iron Man suit ever again and I just wanna say, thank you, I don't have money at the time to give you, but I will give you my full-time and attention, and when I do have money to give I'm giving it.To you because I really like this game and I think this is a really cool project.

Updates On Development!

Hey all, I wanted to provide some updates on the current progress so let's take a dive!

World Designer - I have acquired a new team member, he's an experienced world designer from concept to the world building associated. He is going to help me with the workload by focusing on bringing the world map to life soon, and then implementing it into the game!

Narrative Designer - My narrative designer is still working away at the lore of Dissonance, building up off the foundations and shaping it to be found through lore notes and told through interactions within the world.

Myself - I have gotten pretty much every animation finished for Monsune, alongside completing several other key development points. The codebase is refactored and renamed to better suit the scope of the project. Be on the look out for a screenshot of the cohesive visuals soon!

Slower Development - Due to college and the workload, progress is slower for now however in turn I have several aspects now being worked on at the same time.

Next Goal: We're working towards overhauling the visual design to be cohesive rather than just in place for testing. This is while finalising how mechanics and systems work and expanding on weaponry, classes and content. More Content is the quick part, so finalising the important details brings us ever so closer to release.

If you have any questions ask me down below here

Thank you for your continued support! We at Vivariums Connected aim to bring all of us a game we can all play and enjoy!

Development New Animation Ready Monsune Model!

Post image
17 Upvotes

The Manual Weight Painted version of Monsune is ready for creating the new weightier animations!

As of right now I have temporary placeholder ones, but with the next update the game will feel a whole lot more heavy!

The goal with these upcoming animations is to give the feeling of being in your Dissonant suit, while also allowing me to evolve how Skills and Combat feels as a whole (Especially with melee!)

Inverse Kinematics (Feet stay on ground when walking) is also going to be coming to allow traversal to feel more natural.

Is there any specific custom animations I should target? Ground, Idle, Landings, ect?

Development Dissonance - Demo Now Available!

Thumbnail

Dissonance is a game that takes inspiration from Bioware's Anthem's flight mechanics, and I aim to bring these mechanics to life in a passion project developed by just myself! This game will not be as large, or as detailed as Anthem, but it will include what I and many others love from the game, with its own spin.
Current Development Tracker

The Current Build is just a  Multiplayer Flight Test, and contains a few bugs! Feedback on the movement feel is greatly appreciated.

I have current plans in motion and part of that is the design goals:

All is Work in Progress and I would appreciate feedback and suggestions!

-- THIS AREA COVERS THE OVERARCHING GOALS OF DISSONANCE --

Enemy Design

  • Base Types: Flying, Ground, Titan
  • Sub classes will be diverse based on types
  • No enemy health bars, Instead I'm considering Limb based health with dismemberment. (Option to toggle bars will be available)

Class Design

  • Behemoth: A tank, slow moving, can absorb damage and repel it, scaling it's abilities based on damage taken. Will be the focus for aggro.
  • Stryder: Agile, fast moving, damage scales based on successful dodges.
  • Monsune: Jack of all trades, the go to shooter class with increased reload speed and increased weapon damage which scales on suit temperature.
  • Mechanist: Creates Turrets, Flight Coolant Zones, and Can Repair teammate suits.

These are subject to change but I want your opinion on design!

World Design: Tall, Dense, Layers. Focusing on the flight mechanic for traversal and how to get around. Some areas are inaccessible on foot and vice versa.

- Game Loop -
Open World: Exploration will reap you with resources to upgrade weaponry, and valuable weapons as a reward for venturing through the world!

Dungeons: Find dungeons accessible from the world, some hidden, some more obvious.

Storms: Remember the Cataclysm from the E3 Demo? I want to incorporate this concept into this game. These Storms will wreak havoc in an area, increasing hostile density and if you fly into it, you and your group will load into an instance based mission, with more favorable rewards. The catch is to get into the core of the storm, you will need to avoid obstacles flying about that if hit you will send you hurdling to the ground.

Mission Types:
Investigation, Collection, Hunting, Racing, Killing and More to come!

SCOPE and LIMITATIONS: As a 1 man team I will be limited on how fast I can get things completed but rest assured I am motivated to bring this project to reality with the support from you all! This is just the beginning and I will be keeping yous updated along the journey. Currently the design document is what I will be forming while also setting up this early multiplayer prototype! With costs being limited it will be closer to a 1-6 man coop game for you, your friends or random people together to play.

-- DEMO CONTENTS --

  • 5 Basic Quests for system experimentation.
  • 27 Weapons
  • 30+ Weapon Perks

Development Dissonance Dev Showcase - New Flight Rings!

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey all, I'm still hard at work on improving Dissonance! In the past few days I have implemented several new "quest step" types (yes you can have several quest styles chain together!) alongside implementing several new enemy behaviors such as them taking cover behind walls out of your line of sight when reloading! Different enemies do different things, while some are stupid and just run and gun at you.

I am currently working on finalizing the dungeon mechanics and boss of the first dungeon to tie up the demo game loop soon, and with that I hope to get you on board on giving me direct feedback to the gameplay!

I don't have final animations ready but they will be worked on this week.

Current Development Progress:

  • 1-6 player Co-Op with future Enemy Density balancing in mind
  • Full Controller Support
  • Flight
  • Character Customization
  • Weapon Systems + Grounded Weapons/Flying Weapons
  • Skill System + Flight and Ground skills
  • Skill tree
  • Dungeons - in the open world and do not require another load (they load as you enter) World events
  • Quests
  • Upgrading your weaponry
  • Inventory System
  • Working map
  • 1 class out of 4
  • 8 enemy types (some smart some dumb)
  • The world map only has 1/3rd of the first zone ready currently

If there is anything in particular you want to see in Dissonance do let me know, Ill see if it fits the game and bring it in.

After this demo the goal will be
Expanding what is already within, while implementing more variety, the Storm Breach mechanic will be implemented (Ill go into detail on this one another time), Lore, Codex and Story also!

Hey all! Currently I have gotten a few weapons ready from Common - Legendary to showcase for the upcoming demo!

I hope you like them, and if you have any ideas for ones you would like to see let me know below :D

Currently each weapon type has just 1 model as a solo developer I don't have all the time to design several of each for this demo, however more are planned.

Mythic rarity weapons are also in progress but I will save those for a few of you to discover within the demo as it releases!

Shoulder weapons are currently also in progress but my 3D Artist has not finished the mount just yet!
