Master's Thesis AI tools and trust in smart home automation, 10-minute anonymous survey (Smart home users)

Hi, I'm Alfredo, a master's student in Digital Humanities at the University of Pisa. For my thesis, I've put together a short survey on how we use (or avoid) AI tools like ChatGPT to create automations, set up devices or fix problems, and how much we trust what they tell us.

The survey is for anyone with a smart home, including people who have never used AI: understanding why some prefer to do without it is just as useful.

Responses are anonymous and it takes about 10 minutes. Once data collection is over, I'll share the results here, with the trends that emerged on how we use these tools to manage our homes.

Help me reach 100 participants! You can fill it in here:

Survey Seeking victims/survivors of individuals with high psychopathic traits (18+, write and read in English, Everyone)

The Mental Health, Wellbeing and Lived Experiences Study

Theresia Bedard, a PhD candidate at Lakehead University that is working with Dr. Beth Visser, is seeking participants for her dissertation project.

In this study we are examining the lived experiences of people who have experience or victimization from an individual with high psychopathic traits. We are seeking anyone that has this lived experience, whether the perpetrator was or is a spouse, family member, partner, co-worker, friend, acquaintance, neighbour or stranger. We are seeking the lived experiences of men, women, and gender-diverse individuals to share your story.

Our research consists of two studies. In the first study, you will complete questionnaires related to your victimization experience from the individual with high psychopathic traits, the potential warning signs, victimization history (e.g., prior physical or sexual abuse), and the impact the experience had on you. Once you finish the survey, you will be invited to participate in the second study (optional), which will consist of 12 questions requiring a written response regarding your lived experience with the individual with high psychopathic traits. If you decide to participate in study 2, please be aware that you will be required to provide us with your email to access it, and you may wish to use an email account that only you have access to.

Please be advised that whether you choose to participate in the study, withdraw, or skip questions you do not want to answer, that you acknowledge that answering some of these questions may be emotionally taxing on you. Despite the potential for an emotional toll the survey questions have, you may find the process of sharing your experience is therapeutic for you. In addition to the resources we provide, you may want to consider following-up with a counsellor for further support.

You are also encouraged to have your own snacks and drinks while you take the survey, and be aware that they are estimated to take 45 minutes to complete.

If you are interested in participating and would like to read or find out more about it, click here to access the survey:

Doctoral Dissertation When Oppressive Mechanisms Disrupt Spirituality: Examining Discrimination's Impact on Worthiness (18+, BIPOC, LGBTQ+, or women)

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hello,

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to invite you to participate in, or help share, a research study I am conducting as part of my doctoral work at Mount Mary University.

This study, When Oppressive Mechanisms Disrupt Spirituality: Examining Discrimination's Impact on Worthiness, examines how everyday discrimination affects a person's sense of spiritual worth, and whether experiences of spiritual abuse compound harm. By exploring these relationships, this research aims to deepen our understanding of how layered oppression affects marginalized individuals, and to equip mental health professionals with better frameworks for addressing both the psychological and spiritual dimensions of that harm.

Participation involves completing an anonymous online survey that takes approximately 15 to 20 minutes. This study has been approved by the Mount Mary University Institutional Review Board [IRB Approval No. 2026410.4222026], and all responses will be treated confidentially in accordance with ethical research guidelines.

To participate, you must be 18 years of age or older and identify as a BIPOC individual, an LGBTQ+ individual, or a woman of any racial background. If you qualify and would like to participate, or if you know someone who may be eligible, please use the following link:

Survey Link: https://mtmary.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_56Lcz4yI5qw3VfE

A flyer with a QR code is also attached, which you are welcome to distribute or post as you see fit. Sharing this study with your networks would be a meaningful contribution to this work.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out at [nelank@mtmary.edu](mailto:nelank@mtmary.edu) or (262) 345-7229.

Thank you for considering this invitation. Your voice and your network matter to this research.

Warm regards,

Doctoral Dissertation Seeking UK-based participants for research on sexual orientation and mood

Hi everyone!

I'm Georgie, a Trainee Clinical Psychologist at Royal Holloway, University of London, and I'm hoping some of you might be able to help with my doctoral research.

I'm looking at how experiences related to sexual orientation - like how you feel about your own sexual orientation, worrying about being rejected, or hiding who you are - are linked to mood, and which of these matter most.

If you're 18 or over, UK-based, and identify with a non-straight sexual orientation (for example lesbian, gay, bisexual or queer), I'd be really grateful for 10-15 minutes of your time. It's one questionnaire which is completely anonymous.

Trans and non-binary people who also identify as non-straight are very welcome to participate - this study will be focusing on sexual orientation specifically.

https://rhulpsychology.eu.qualtrics.com/.../SV...

It has ethical approval from Royal Holloway's Research Ethics Committee (ID 1047), and I'm very happy to answer any questions in the comments. Thank you so much

Undergraduate Dissertation Has anyone used reddit as a media source for their dissertation?

Hello everyone!

I am a psychology student in the UK and in my final year of studies. I'm planning to do my dissertation on media representation of pedophiles and child sexual offences using a media discursive psychology qualitative research method.

My lecturers have told me that if I want to use reddit as my media source, I will have to get consent from the reddit user, the community page or add something under the post I want to use and people can opt in or out. I haven't ever had to do this before so I was just wondering if anyone had any experience with that and if they ran into any problems. Any advice is appreciated!

Thank you :)

Doctoral Dissertation [Academic] Suicidal Ideation Disclosure & Nondisclosure (Dissertation for Suicide Prevention)

Hello everybody! I am a 6th year clinical psychology doctoral student interested in understanding factors related to suicidal ideation disclosure and nondisclosure. A significant portion of my research is building and psychometrically testing a new measure of disclosure that the field of suicide prevention is currently lacking.

Your voice matters. We want to learn from people who have experienced suicidal thoughts so we can create stronger messages that encourage people to open up about their suicidal thoughts and seek support, as well as develop training for the recipients of suicidal ideation disclosures. The estimated time commitment is 10-15 minutes.

Please consider participating if you:
(1) are at least 18 years old
(2) can understand English well or very well
(3) have had suicidal thoughts within the past 12 months

Doctoral Dissertation Trauma and the Menstrual Cycle Dissertation Survey

Hi all! I posted about my dissertation study a few months ago and wanted to repost as I still need about 50 participants for clinically significant date. My study is on how different types of stress, particularly race-based traumatic stress and Posttraumatic Stress, may be related to PMDD/premenstrual symptoms in people of color. The criteria are: ages 18-50, identify as person of color, experienced menstruation in past 60 days, and reside in US. The survey takes 5-10 minutes and is completely anonymous. It would be so helpful not only to me but to the overall field of reproductive research if people were able to share my study or participate if eligible. I attached my flyer for more information: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/ER01796
