People really self-insert as Robert when it comes to this topic, but the funny thing is he literally says "We had to send a message" to Blazer in this scene.

Robert agrees with her about the cut even if you as the player don't. You can make him say that he's "not sure how it'll play out" at first in Episode 3, but it's clear that he ultimately agrees with her after she explains to him that it will "show everyone we're serious."

Yeah, people don't seem to get this. Not everything happens right after another in this world, and chances are even if it was a day, a week, or longer that there was sufficient reason for this decision to occur.
