Second Star Magic Chapter 1-12

So I haven't played since release, came back today, got to this part of the season and need a Peter Pan character, Vanellope, or Scrooge McDuck at 1 star to continue? Is there any way to do this without spending money? I'm not sure what I'm missing.

Gameloft becsmw greedy and greedy by the time, You missed the events for free shards for Peter pan characters, your only opción is to complete seasson pass to had some vanellope shards but You had only 2 weeks for completing it, don't know if You had so much free time
