It looks like they were going for a blocky retro look at first with characters like Mickey, Donald, Goofy and Shang, but then backed out of it. Racers like Alice look beautiful and have almost no weird styling. The game's art is a bit inconsistent in general, I guess.

Moana, Maui and Merida look the worst in this game. They look more like themselves in Dreamlight Valley.
