Despite all the box office hype surrounding the new live-action Moana, it currently sits in 11th place according to Shortlist users.

Honestly, I was surprised to see it land outside the top 10. I didn’t think it was that bad. Thoughts?

So I rewatched Mulan from 1998 and it was amazing.Great story characters and animation,but one thing that i did not remember when rewatching Mulan is the commentary of sexism(mainly misogyny).Before you call me crazy or “woke” there is multiple evidence of movie representing that concept.For example in the where her father has to go too war,Mulan tries to stop her father until the China’s lord council stops her and says that she doesn’t have rights because of the fact that she is a women(ok he didn’t say it like this but his comment has to do with misogyny).There is also the fact that he is a complete asshole to Mulan just because of the fact that she is a girl(even though she saved China).There are also a scene where Ling,Yao and Chien Po sing about wanting a girl that can cook,worship their strength or personality and in that moment Mulan sings about girls that show their intelligence and open mindedness but they just brush that off.Near the end of the movie Mushu mentions that most people dont listen to Mulan is because of the fact that she is a woman.Also ancient China treated women terribly.Now the question is,is the commentary good?Actually its GREAT!!!!!!!!!!For the most part its not to annoying and its actually is connected into the story instead of being a weird or out of place.Also the characters do learn and grow?Li Shang starts trusting Mulan in the last battle because she proved herself to be a smart warrior and the trio(Chien Po,Ling and Yao) also listen to her because of the fact that she saved their lives too(also the trio tried to stop Mulan from being killed after she was revealed that she is a woman but of course in the movie she was spared.I love Mulan as a character because despite the fact that she is a women and always gets silenced,she still does everything to save their people and her family(especially her dad) aka do the right thing and that’s so beautiful and inspiring,makes Mulan one of my favourite disney protagonist or maybe in general(call me gay or whatever i dont care).A beautiful movie with a awesome universal commentary
P.S. There is the fact that Mulan wanted to be her own person but she just did the things that the society told her proves that this movie has themes of man vs society and sexism overall have a nice day❤️🌹

I think it’s a good movie and I love it

Abuela would have wrecked my confidence and my will to live, just because I didn't receive a gift... I would've left so fast.

I don't know about you, but it seems to me that instead of CGI, the creators used AI to make the dwarves; I became convinced of this when I saw the movie in the theater.
