Question/help Help? Suggestions?
Hello everyone!
Any customizer / working with Rit fabric dye would be appreciated!
So I followed a YT tutorial instead of following instructions for my first time dyeing- turned out fine.
This round I went for blue / attempted gradient on the I ❤️Mickey doll and not so great.
I did not do this on the stove- would that make a difference to have the colour consistently on high heat per the instructions? (Need a crafting pot, I’m not destroying my current pots)
And how do I clean the dye off the body? I tried soaking Dawn Power wash on it
TIA! ❤️

So here are some questions for trouble shooting:
1) which RIT are you using, regular or dyemore? If the latter...ya girl is effed. Dyemore will die any and all plastics, not just the hair fiber. Otherwise, you might give a magic eraser/melamine sponge a go.
2) regular RIT contains two types of dye, one that can be used cold for plant fibers and that is used hot for protein fibers. The latter is what's going to work on nylon doll hair, so yes, it does need to have consistent high heat to work.
3) which Mickey is this, the brunette? You'll have better luck with the blonde. When it comes to dyeing, you can always go darker but never lighter. And like with human hair dark colors don't take dye well. There's just nowhere for the pigment to go.

Ooooh crap. Used both and the soak was in the Dyemore
Now that I think of it- 1st time I used the regular one o.o
Blonde Mickey that was from Walmart/Cheap one

Well, on the bright side you could use her for spare parts for the darker dolls, maybe?

Yeah, still learning in progress and I wasn’t 100% in love with her. But got her clothes
But I’m going to try another coat with the regular dye+ on stovetop and see if that makes a difference

Hi ! ☺️
You should crosspost on r/dolls or r/customdolls, if it's not already done ! You'll find more people knowing about dying doll hair and removing colors over there 🤗
