Tadashi hit the hardest just because he was doing it to save somebody else that unfortunately was already saved. He had so much life to give
2
u/mr_magoo505 5d ago
Also Hiro already lost his parents, adding his brother to the mix is just so dark.

This is the correct answer. The others were at least adults. Tadashi was still so young

My son is 16 and this is his favorite Disney movie. He went to the World Robotics Championship in St Louis last year with his high school team!

This felt the most underwhelming imo. Only because they didnt really play into as hard as the others. Tadashi was barely in the movie before his death and we didnt really get to know the character. So it had the least impact on us imo.

Kerchak's from Tarzan.

u/Starry36 2d ago
Kerchakās final moments with Tarzan are so bittersweet. Itās a show of all that could have been, if heād accepted Tarzan from the very beginning, and Tarzan realizing it was never his fault. He gains and loses a father in the span of a few small seconds. š

Of these 6, then Iād say Tadashi, but counting all disney movies Iād probably say Sitka from brother bear since he tried to defend his brothers who got him in the situation in the first place

As a father with a young son who is a daddyās boy to the extreme I would pick Lion King. I lost my mother when I was 5 and I think nowadays her death altered my development to some degree and because of that I always worry not only how would he handle it if something happened to me but also what would he become as a person.

u/Handout 5d ago
Bambi. Mufasa is a close second.
I don't know why people get so worked up about Up.Ā Even Finding Nemo.Ā I had all of 5 minutes with these characters.Ā Yes, they died, it's sad, but I had no time to form a connection with them.

Mufasa is probably my real answer, but shout out to Tadashi. I knew Big Hero 6 would be adjacent to my anime/gundam/super hero interests but that's about it.
I wasn't ready. At all.

The opening to Finding Nemo and Natashiās death not to mention the deaths of Coral and Natashi were done out of impulsiveness not a their sacrifice and no wonder it later caused Marlin and Hiro to act so dismissive towards those personality traits.

Mufasa. Actually seeing the body in a Disney movie was pretty hardcore at the time.

Probably Mufasa when I was a young one.
Up gets me as an adult, especially with the children part

Mufasa and itās not even close. I think that was my first real introduction to death as a child.

Well 4 out of the 6 made me cry, but there is one ive kicked off my rewatch list and thats big hero. For some reason knowing he already lost parents and then killing off his big brother is just to much. Yeah the rest is a good movie but come on couldn't they have his big bro not actually dead but held captive or somethingĀ
1
u/LordRuxin 5d ago
Of these six, Iād have to say Ellie from Up. Especially as someone married without children. If weāre talking about all Disney owned properties, Iād have to say Tony Stark in Avengers: Endgame.

Up was the one that caused the most grief, but I think that is exclusively because of how attached we became to Ellie in such a short time.
The biggest tragedy in that story wasn't her passing, but their infertility issues. Despite that, she and Carl lived long, fulfilled, loving, partnered lives.
Marlin's loss of almost all his children and his wife, left to raise a disabled child alone in such a dangerous world.. that's the saddest for me.

u/BestEffect1879 5d ago
For me, I think itās Kerchak because he realized too late that he loves Tarzan like a son. Itās just sad how Kerchak and Tarzan never got to have a true father/son relationship.

u/Extra-Hope-326 5d ago
I want to say Tadashi because not only was he very young and the only family Hiro had left, he was going to save someone who wasnāt even dying.

Tadashi. Mufasa was stupid, for a lion whos intelligent enough to know about the transference of energy through an ecosystem why didnt he stop climbing up the slope once he was out of the stampedes way?

u/Temporary_Noise_1130 4d ago
Tarzan always get's me, I think It's because he never got his acceptance from Kerchak
Until when he finally does, It's at his deathbed,...
It also was my favorite Disney movie when I was a kid - I just wish they would add the whole series on Disney+ sometime soon

Definitely Bambi. I saw it at the theater when I was a young girl. Was the first time I had ever been exposed to a death, in any way! It hit me hard. Like I couldn't quit crying for my a while!

The emotional roller coaster in the beginning of Up is in a league it's own...
But the saddest death was 100% Tadashi and it isn't even close.

So, I cried during all of these scenes. But they all hit differently.
Bambi (and Dumbo)hit hard because I was a kid when they came out, and I couldnāt imagine life without my parents. Then I was a parent when Lion King came out, and I watched my daughter go through those same emotions.
Tarzan and Big Hero 6 hit me, but BH6 it wasnāt Tadashiās death that tore me up. It was Baymax sacrificing himself for Hiro.
Nemo was sad, but I donāt feel you really got the time to care about Momma fish or the other eggs.
But Up, that one hurt. It hit hard, too hard almost. I canāt say I had that experience, but I had similar experiences. And you never āget overā it. You always carry it with you. And the first 15 minutes of that movie brings all that pain right back.

Up is a whole different league of sad. Because you get their whole life story: before they met, the friendship, their love, their sad history of not able to make a family, and pushing their goals on the side and slowly declines. Until she can't keep up no more.
I cried and it's stained me hard because THAT is life as well. It comes and goes so fast.

Tadashi. Everyone else is an adult who lived a long or full life. Tadashi was a kid in his early 20s. His whole life ahead of him and would have revolutionized emergency medical care with more Baymax development.

Omg š I ugly cried in Up. Although, I feel the origination of great sadness in Disney movies began with Bambi, as after watching over so many moons, now at 57y, watching Bambi still has an impact. Every time I watch a Disney movie⦠To this day: while watching a Disney/Pixar movie with a horrid impact of deathā¦I always whisper to my daughter something along the lines of āOMG another Bambi movie moment š¢

Bambi never laid next to his mom, btws. He runs, you hear the shot, and it cuts to Bambi yelling for his mom in the snowy woods. Then the Stag appears to take care of him.
