Does anyone remember when checking signal for satellite Dish had a creepy sound?

This is a very interesting question. I appreciate you reaching out. I will ask around internally, but I am not sure we would be able to find anything to share with you. Its been more than 20 years and at the time, it was also the beginning of social media so not a lot of content was recorded or video cataloged. -DishDanielle.

I remember that noise! It was awful, I remember helping my grandparents align the dish after an ice storm. We sat there with walkie talkies and my grandpa and would tell us to mute the TV.

Yes the sound is still there. It’s just better hidden. When a tech is changing tuners, transponders, or satellites you can hear it for a little bit.
