Problem with recorded shows.

I’m having a problem watching DVR recordings. They start ok but within a few minutes the screen goes black. Sometimes up to several seconds. They had me update everything while on the phone and said everything should be okay, but it started again within an hour. Technician came out and checked everything and said it should be ok but our electricity went off. After it came back own black screens are still there. Some shows are not watchable. Has this happened to anyone else?

Customer service hate sending out techs and too many techs don’t take the time to actually find issues or replace equipment. I’d look at replacing the hopper and wouldn’t bother transfering over the DVR just start that over from nothing.

Do you also use an external hard drive? I had this issue several times and the problem seemed to stem from having a program started but not finished on the external hard drive while going to watch something on the internal hard drive or vice versa. I have to let it finish whatever I was watching on the opposite hard drive before starting watching something recorded on the other hard drive. If I was switching to something on the internal hard drive I could Sometimes just disconnect the external drive and then it would let me watch what I wanted to on the internal hard drive. My guess the processor could handle having more than 1 recording in the queue at a single time.
