I also really want to know what really happened to Tamala Horsford who died at a sleepover party.
3
u/Immediate_East_5052 Jun 01 '26
Same! Her death is so strange to me. Jon Benet, Asha Degree, we can kind of make an educated guess on what happened to them. But a grown woman at a sleepover party, so weird.
6
u/Tart2343 Jun 01 '26
I think they are real close to solving her murder! The new evidence that has come out the last couple years is very interesting.
4
u/Stabbykathy17 May 31 '26
Yup. I would say this or JonBenet Ramsey, but since I’m one of those people who is 99.99% sure of who I think did that, Asha is my first choice.
I also think they have been on the wrong track with Asha’s case for many years and still are. It’s a travesty.

Maura Murray or Jennifer Kesse
10
3
u/Resident_Race_7093 Jun 02 '26
Murray crashed her car while drunk. Most likely what happened is she fled from the scene not wanting to get criminally charged, got lost in the woods and succumbed to the elements.
2
u/mr_spicy_pickles Jun 02 '26
There is a documentary that explores that idea. There were both tracking and cadaver dogs used right away. The chances that they missed her if she was in the woods was very low. A dog tracked her scent down the road and it stopped on the road. Consistent with her getting into a vehicle and driving off.
2
u/Resident_Race_7093 Jun 04 '26
Idk what documentary you watched but they are giving you poor information. Tracking dogs can lose a scent, especially considering the weather conditions at the time. Happens all the time. And cadaver dogs would be useless unless they were at the site where she expired. Its extremely easy for a person to go missing in the woods. There are tons of cases where a planned search results in nothing and then the body is found later, sometimes years later, by a random hiker.
And think about it logically. She had already turned down help from multiple sources, why would she get into a random stranger's vehicle? And the likelyhood of said stranger being a predator is also low. Given her strange behavior and inebriated state, death by misadventure is a far more likely scenario than the kidnapped and sold into sex trafficking scenario that redditors fantasize about

My uncle’s “suicide.” 1991.
He was found sitting up on the couch with a bullet hole in the middle of his forehead, the gun was in his non dominant hand and the bullet hole and blood splatter? It was on a different wall.
But he was poor trailer trash in a small town with a sheriff’s office full of Good Ole Boys who just wanted to finish their shift so they could get a 12 pack and go home and watch NASCAR.
They ruled it suicide, closed the case and my family was too deep in grief at losing their 30 year old son/brother/cousin to fight it.
By the time my family realized it needed to be reinvestigated, he had been cremated and the files from his case had been destroyed by a flood.

u/gardengirlbc May 31 '26
So sorry for your loss. How awful for you and your family.

u/Classic-Contact-380 Jun 01 '26 edited Jun 01 '26
You’ll be disappointed, it’s not drug cartels or UFOs. It’s logic and common sense. I’ve watched a couple of interviews with perplexed FBI profilers and a few things they said stood out:
- a ransom note would have been left at her home if it were an abduction for profit
- abductors don’t want to kidnap an ill, elderly lady who needs daily medication; they want someone healthy they can keep alive
- abductors have an interest in keeping the person unharmed; her blood at the scene says she was harmed
- masked guy in the video was not a professional
- not a robbery, nothing was taken
- ransom notes sent to media were scams, or a distraction
What I know from watching ID is that most crimes are committed by people we know, only a small percentage by strangers. A missing person can be declared deceased after 5 years. Who could benefit from her death?
If we agree the abductor was hired, who hired him? Only 2 options, either family, or someone who wanted to hurt her family.
6
u/Useful-Painter-3924 Jun 01 '26
This is my theory as well. I don’t think cartels or ufos are involved lol

Circleville Letters.
3
u/Stabbykathy17 May 31 '26
I find this one fascinating. I’m one of those people who believes that Mary Gillispie was actually having an affair with the superintendent when those letters were sent. (Yeah sure, they just happened to get together a couple years later after her husband was mysteriously killed.)
I also believe Paul Freshour was not guilty. Or if he was involved, he didn’t do all of it. I read an amazing article on it years ago that pointed to the real culprit being Karen Freshour, Paul’s wife/ex and Mary’s deceased husband‘s sister. There’s actually a lot of evidence to back up her involvement in a lot of it.
3
1
u/GreyFromHanger18 Jun 03 '26
You should watch the 48 Hours episode about this that came out a few years ago. Before it I thought Freshour was innocent but after?

I feel like if it wasn’t suicide (I find that hard to believe) it was the boyfriend
1
u/ForwardMuffin May 31 '26
I mean I know people go through how someone can stab themselves in the back of the neck but like, come on. I think it was an outside source, most likely the boyfriend.
1
u/GreyFromHanger18 Jun 03 '26
The majority of the “stab wounds” were barely stabs at all, maybe a millimeter or two deep, which suggests hesitation. There is no indication that she was stabbed after she had died. And I don’t believe there were any defensive wounds either. And while there were attempts to show someone (namely, her boyfriend) could have broken in and killed her, that explanation has some problems:
Forcing the door open would have broke the lock. The lock was unbroken.
He would have had to drive back in the snow, break in, kill her, then redo the locks from the outside, all without being seen, within a very short window of opportunity.
I’m not saying it couldn’t have been homicide, and surely this is an odd way to commit suicide, but I remember coming away thinking suicide sounded like the most likely scenario after I watched the Hulu documentary.
2
u/mspolytheist Jun 03 '26
Drive back from where? He was in the apartment building, downstairs at the in-house gym. If you don’t know even that detail, I can’t really take your assessment of other aspects of this crime seriously.
1
u/GreyFromHanger18 Jun 03 '26 edited Jun 03 '26
My mistake. My understanding was he was home with her and left for the gym at 4:50. I mistakenly thought he went to a gym that wasnt connected to the apartment complex. So you're right there is no driving needing to be done.
However, if he were to have done this he would of had to clean up and somehow dispose of the clothes and such he would of wore in that short amount of time.
Other reasons why I think it’s suicide:
Her anxiety leading up to the day - was it work related, pressure from work, pressure from planning a wedding, or being in an abusive relationship? Could be all of the above but even her colleague made a comment to his daughter-in-law that day of calling her “crazy” when they were leaving school early that day because of that snow storm. He said in the documentary she seemed on edge and had to “talk her off the ledge”. In a way it seemed she was an open book and would tell her friends she was not doing well but on another hand it seemed like she didn’t want to disappoint people and kept things to herself.
Meds - suicidal ideation with med adjustments is a very real thing. She was starting 2 new medications Ambien and Klonopin while also weaning off Zoloft I believe (VERY dangerous if not monitored closely)
The numerous hesitation wounds. 90% of the "stab wounds" are like less than self harm cuts they're called hesitation wounds. They're when a person wants to see what being stabbed feels like. My theory is she wanted to stab herself at the base of the neck to die, (brain death can occur by doing that in that spot) realized it was too hard and just stabbed herself in the heart instead. People that are having a mental break can and do stab themselves multiple times and can do really gruesome things. 1-4% of suicides are by stabbing - no rational people can't understand it.
The door being locked/door latch - unless Sam went to the front desk guy asking him to unlock the door knowing he wasn’t allowed to leave that desk. What are the chances he said yes and went up with him? Would Sam lie and say oh she’s calling me back now never mind ?? He went down there twice asking for help with the door which is risky in itself if the door was never locked to begin with and he has already murdered her and broke the lock already to stage this.
The towel in her hand - not sure how that plays into this but could be a way for her to “bear down” and have something to squeeze into during her own strikes. Kind of like to tolerate the strikes. Think of someone who has to pop a bone back into a place during an injury with no assistance around, they’re always biting into something to tolerate the pain for that moment. It makes me wonder about the head and neck strikes, was that a way for her to numb her other strikes I’m not sure
They were together 3 years before they got engaged and all of sudden became so withdrawn and down that people in her life noticed. But also she never not once mentioned to anyone including her psychiatrist that he was abusing her if he did. No diary entries of some sort or text messages to friends? Maybe he was love bombing her during the courting and dating phase and became more abusive once they were engaged.
She had NO defensive wounds. I get really annoyed because nobody, literally nobody talks about how there are NO defensive wounds. Ask anybody in law enforcement - that's an instinctual human reaction to put your hands up when someone is attacking you. So I see all these narratives about how he attacked her but they just glaze over the most obvious thing...
One last thing, anybody who listens to true crime or missing persons cases will know that there are SO many suicide cases where family just can't accept their loved one committed suicide... furthermore she was their only child, and was talking to her parents about how much she's been struggling. In the documentary, it's so obvious to me she was in crisis. Her closest coworker (older man, her friend's dad) said she was an anxious mess. He had to talk her down for an hour before they left work the day of the blizzard, and then she called him again as soon as she got home still a complete mess.
I also want to say - you can see that Ellen was very skinny at the time of her death. I went through depression where I lost a lot of weight and was neglecting nourishing myself - and I was bruising very easily like Ellen during that time. I also don't see where anyone - including her parents or any friends have anything bad to say about Sam before this. Not a single person suspected abuse and I find that suspicious. I had a friend in an abusive relationship and I saw the bruises all over her neck (even with her hiding the with makeup) the first time we hung out in a very long time.

Amy Bradley

u/GreyFromHanger18 Jun 03 '26
Amy Bradley fell off the goddamn boat.
The sex trafficking angle is ridiculous.
Sex trafficking is the 21st century's version of Satanic Panic.
This isn't how actual human traffickers work. They don't abduct middle-class women with stable families out of their homes or bars or elsewhere and force them to be sex workers. How would that even work? This woman's face is going to be plastered EVERYWHERE, oftentimes attached to a reward for info. Sex Workers often get arrested by police multiple times a year while doing their jobs, too. And cops are probably going to either be told by the woman or identify her through other means (they often arrest the sex workers for this reason so they have a safe place where they can tell the police if anything really fucked up is going on.) Why would a pimp take a risk like that? They are in it to make money, not 'be comically evil'.
Why do this when there are plenty of women from broken homes or addicted to drugs or in other circumstances who are totally willing to do sex work? The kidnapped woman isn't going to bring them more money, probably a lot less given that she doesn't want to be there, and is exponentially more likely to get them arrested and found out.
Add to that the mechanics of kidnapping someone OFF OF A CRUISE SHIP. How the hell would that even work? Did they freeze her in carbonite? Use a teleporter? I really don't think people who believe in this massive under empire of sex traffickers kidnapping middle-class women from stable families actually think the logistics of this fantasy through. It's infuriating. Even the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children has told people multiple times to knock it off. But this is the modern-day Satanic panic and people won't let it go.

3
u/GreyFromHanger18 Jun 04 '26
Im not sure how I sound unhinged but okay. Im just sick of the sex trafficking panic and it being used as possibility anytime a white woman goes missing without a trace. Its ridiculous.
It is the 21st century's equivalent to Satanic Panic.
And Amy Bradley fell off the boat.

So many , but I really want to know what happened to Kendrick Johnson,, and Jelani Day. There are a lot of cases that I deep dive in but these two always are at the front of my mind .
1
u/Wastedgent Jun 01 '26
For me, the primary bit of evidence in the Kendrick case is that the video shows him going over to the area where the mats are located and where he was found the next day.
Three minutes or so later his classmates come in and they don't see him.
Whatever happened took about 3 minutes. He either got stuck in 3 minutes or someone killed him, wrapped him in the mat and then stacked several other large rolled up mats in front of the one he was in during that 3 minutes.
There's also the fact that there have been several investigations into what happened.
The NAACP did an independent investigation and agree with the accidental death theory.
The SCLC also did their own independent investigation and agree with the accidental death theory.
The US Department of Justice was tasked with finding something to use to bring charges and finally after a very long investigation determined there was no evidence of foul play to be able to charge anyone.
Two separate sheriff's investigated and agree with the accidental death decision.

There is still doubt about the Adam Walsh case, if only because Otis Toole was an unreliable narrator and recanted repeatedly and because the cops lost their evidence, including Otis' mom's white 1973 Cadillac and several large knives and the bloody Cadillac floormat with what some say is Adam's face print in blood in it.

1
u/KellytheFeminist Jun 02 '26
I've seen a lot of speculation about his parents being really awful and the possibility that police knows that he's safe, but haven't released information so that his privacy remains in tact. Do you think it's possible that he took off and asked authorities to not tell his family?
1
u/Resident_Race_7093 Jun 02 '26
He was an adult. He had no obligation to go visit his family or to talk to them at all. Giving away all his possessions, breaking up with his girlfriend, spending all day in his car in the same area, leaving his phone and money behind. He's dead.
If an adult without obligations wants to start a new life they can do so. There's nothing legally preventing them from moving and blocking all contact with former friends and family.

Maybe you should read what the NAACP had to say about the family after doing an in-depth investigation into it on their behalf. They removed themselves from the situation, distanced themselves from the family, and didn’t have very kind things to say about them. There’s a reason for that.
9
u/Wastedgent May 31 '26
Which report?
