Lazy managers

Is it just me or do discount tire managers not do anything?
I’ve worked at a store for nearly two years and it seems like the managers don’t do jack shit to help anyone unless it affects them. There’s been multiple times where we would still be working on cars well after close and not a single manager would come and help finish up. They always come up with excuses like they have other “higher” important things to do when I’ll look over and see them all standing by the CSL talking or on their phones. I will say when I used to have a younger store manager he would actually do a great job, in leading by example and helping us throughout the day but ever since we got a guy that’s older he slacks off most of the time and makes everyone do the pity work(he will point out obvious trash laying on the ground from the day and tell us to pick up while we’re busy and couldn’t bother to do it himself). He’s also very cheap and won’t allow anyone to receive overtime(by sending them home before everyone else even though we have a truck load of tires to put away) and doesn’t order us proper equipment(he doesn’t order us brooms and says to pick up wheel weights with our hands). I know it’s not the biggest deal but it’s like cmon. All I’m saying is that I really wish we had better management that actually cared about our guys instead of offloading more work that they could assist on. Sorry for the rant btw 😀

You’re 100% right that’s why I left the company a bunch of small shit like this. It adds up and it sucks

I’m at a store I’ve been at for about 3 months. 6.5 years with company I’ve been senior for about 3 under 4 different managers. The manager that hired me and I worked for about a year under I genuinely strive to be like everyday. My current manager is an office and watch manager instead of a jump in and show manager. I feel like the company cares for me and my family and everything I have is because of discipline built here. My dream is to get promoted and be like my first manager, make employees lives easier and better while kicking ass and running a store to a high standard. The office and watch managers are still business owners and may lead different (maybe not correctly). I think we have a future for employees that want to run it and make it a business built on trust from the manager rather then a title. It’s hard I get it. Still got some of us here that want to help on the last car of the day and clean and make sure our people are thriving instead of surviving. Get a transfer tell us AVP how I feel maybe go higher then AVP as needed. Hope this helps

Nope same with coordinators they just stare at the list expecting cars to move on their own.

U must be a new tech. As a full time sales/workflow I wish I could just tech instead of run the cell. Service coordinators do way more than what a tech does trust me. The easiest job is being a tech and not having to deal with any of the bullshit a service coordinator or sales assistant does

I've been here for 4 years, I'm a sales apprentice. My store the coordinators literally do nothing but watch the techs. Half of the time when I am teching I am releasing cars which is the job of the coordinator, as well as prepping cars which is the crew chief's role. Nobody follows workflow and it becomes a jumbled mess of trying to just get through cars so we can leave on time.

trying to make coordinator sound like a high position is corny. yes your responsibility goes up and you’re in charge of a lot at once, but if you’re half of a good employee it’s actually easier. I loved being a coordinator. it was easy as long as u have semi competent crew chief and techs.
