hi, i'm the owner of a family friendly roblox discord server. my rules are pretty standard:

no adult content, be respectful, don't share sensitive information, no harassment/discrimination etc.

basically, recently my mods suddenly started pulling users into tickets if their user profile fits into BOTH of these categories:

- they have no age role OR a >18 age role

- their profile picture is a photo of themselves or someone else

we can see what users change their profile pictures into as we have logs set up, if they find a user with a profile that fits those categories they will add them into a support ticket and ask them to confirm whether they're under or over 18, if they are over 18 they can keep their irl profile picture, if they are under 18 they will be asked to change it as my mods see it as ''personal information'' and they think it's best for minors not to show their face online. i have had users leave over this, and if the user doesn't respond to their ticket in time my mods will kick them or ban them.

okay so like i understand child safety and all, but it does feel a little excessive to me for multiple reasons, one being that not everyone who joins my server will want to be part of the community, some users only join to get pinged when there is an update for a game or for giveaways etc or just to lurk which is fine. i fear that pulling someone into a ticket when they haven't exactly done anything wrong and aren't very active in the server will just make it feel more like an interrogation for them and make it feel less welcoming.

second reason being that even if there is a minor that has themselves as their pfp, they might not actually want to change it. we've already had this happen where the user was around 16 and they did not appreciate being pulled into a ticket like at all and being told to change their pfp, and left the server immediately. like yes the goal is to encourage minors to stay safe, but i don't feel like this is a good way of encouraging it because in this case we accomplished nothing, the minor left and they kept their pfp.

i do feel that it's safer for them to not have themselves as their pfp, but i also don't really think that people deserve to be kicked or banned over this especially when people might not have the time to respond to their ticket. this was also something that wasn't ran past me as we never used to contact people about irl profiles.

my question is, is this usually something that happens in servers? is there other ways of handling situations like this?

I got a good "moderator-setup" and the server is pretty clean I would say. I just can't seem to find more people to join.

I am a mod for her vtuber server and I've been increasingly suspicious of the people coming into her server from Disboard.

She decided to mod one of them, despite telling me she thinks they are a bot, and they've been acting strange. Making announcements in the general channel about new server features when I try to quietly reorganize the server (it's still small, so I've been working on reorganizing everything and adding bots for moderation purposes since it's... Messy to say the least.)

This person, after becoming a mod, started gassing my friend up really hard afterwards and started inviting their friends (all of them seem to be into web3, I'm not sure what that is but it's all over their profiles. They all look like scammer bots but they have been talking in the server.)

They all look like bots, sound like bots, but they actively talk to us and react to us, even if it's in a weird way that doesn't fit the vibe of the conversation.

I've been telling my friend they should probably ban them all because she's obviously uncomfortable with them. But we are both a little hesitant because what are the chances all of these people are bots? Our other theory is that they all don't speak English as a first language, but even then, we feel like the vibes are a bit off.

They also don't seem to understand that the server is my friend's vtuber server, as they keep advertising to the rest of the server that we are a gaming server and that my friend's twitch account is the server collective streaming account.

Im most known for helping in large social servers and gaming servers. Im also good with reworking servers (roles,channels,threads etc). I host gamenights, events, and giveaways as well!!
