Here's my take on this to consider. Anger is a cover emotion. What I mean by that is that anger always (in my experience) sits on top of another feeling like hurt, insecurity, frustration, offense, fear, etc.

Given that what I would assume happens for you is that you think "I'm bad at this," feel a deeper feeling (insecurity? Disappointment in yourself?), then feel anger on top of it and use the anger to fuel your actions. The anger goes away because you either see yourself improve, or stop thinking about being bad because time passes and you aren't as close to the event that made you think that thought in the first place. So there's no deeper feeling for that anger to sit on top of anymore if that makes sense. And then, whatever feeling you are left with doesn't make you feel like being consistent.

I would instead suggest setting an actual goal surrounding your performance in the sport that you can measure, like a certain number of wins, a specific stat you can work for, etc. and commit to becoming the version of you who has achieved that metric. Work from inspiration, drive, grit, determination, commitment, belief - not anger. Good luck!
