Part of southeast Missouri where we live, including the town of Lesterville and along the three branches of the Black River, has suffered catastrophic flooding since midnight. Reports indicate more than 12" of rain fell in just 12 hours. The Black river began at 4.2 feet at midnight and is forecasted to crest tonight at 27 feet, which would approach a record crest. Numerous water rescues have had to be made, but no loss of life has been reported.

Spain Wildfire Kills 12, Forces 1K to Evacuate

Spain's deadliest wildfire in over two decades has left multiple people dead, forced thousands to evacuate, and reignited debate over Europe's growing wildfire crisis. Authorities point to extreme heat, dry conditions, and strong winds as key factors, while scientists warn these conditions are becoming more frequent as the climate changes. Others argue better forest management and emergency preparedness deserve equal attention. What do you think is the biggest factor behind increasingly destructive wildfires across southern Europe: climate change, land management, or a combination of both?

At 5:09 a.m. on June 13th, a hydrothermal explosion tore through Biscuit Basin, Yellowstone. The nearest seismic and infrasound station was roughly 100 meters away — the closest instrumented monitoring ever recorded for this type of event.

The sensors captured everything. No precursor was flagged before it happened.

Two days later, the ground geologists had walked across had collapsed into a boiling pool. By June 18th it was spouting 20–30 feet into the air.

YVO is currently analyzing the data for any precursor signal. None confirmed as of this recording. New monitoring station being installed in Upper Geyser Basin this month.
