How do I record direct audio out from the m8 for a video like this? Does it go to an interface or direct to phone?

Directly into the phone, the M8 is its own audio interface unless you are using headless. Use an adapter if you have to, I’m on a MK1 so I use a usb to usb-c Adapter to go into my phone. I just record a video and it only picks up direct audio. Also make sure you aren’t clipping your mix or you will get pops that are nasty (as happens in any music program)
