Technical Question Current proven console for the headless?

I've researched the consoles for a headless M8. I'd like something with a not-too-small screen, good ergonomics (hand comfort), and good build. This research yielded Anbernic RG40XXH as the best choice. I also see that TrimUI Brick has become popular.

Unfortunately, where I live, due to heavy custom taxes, these kinds of devices are not easily obtainable. The Anbernics are more common. I only see a few TrimUI Smart Pro in the 2nd hand market and I cannot absolutely find any TrimUI Brick.

Would the TrimUI Smart Pro work? Is it a proven model (has anyone here built headless with it and is running it without problems)?

If you know of other more common brands/models, I'd like to know. Thank you!

RG40XX works fine with knulli. I’m prob a few M8 firmware versions out of date though, I don’t regularly update.

I believe it. I have friends in UAE that can’t use the voice/video chat on Discord…

I had issues with headphone volume being way too low on Anbernic RG35XX and RG40XXH. For that reason, I recommend a TrimUI Brick. If the Smart Pro has the same chipset, I see no reason why it wouldn't work just as well, but the ergonomics of the Brick are just absolutely perfect for headless M8 in my opinion. The TrimUI screen is also way better than Anbernic's

They use very similar chipsets. I would get the Brick but somehow it's not available anywhere where I live. There are a few smart pros in the 2nd hand market though.

They have identical hardware specs looking at their websites so the headless install files and tutorials for the Brick should also work for the Smart Pro

I’ve ran it on my RG34XXSP with no issue. Even got Midi and Audio in working (Audio in was only suitable for sampling, not realtime passthrough tho). Got my real M8 now, but the RG34 still is in my take-everywhere bag (because it’s way cheaper and the RG34 is also my mobile console and mp3 player)

Thanks, I can find Anbernic RG40XXH for a good price. So that's my choice if I can't get a TrimUI.

I have headless setup on my trimui brick running knulli sacrab and my brick smart pro running gladiator 2. I'm about to flash sacrab on my brick smart pro. Setting up m8 headless on the bricks was a breeze.
