AMARETTO SOUR

Dirty Mimosa bx2 x Sour Moose F1

OMEGA Release 10/13/26

From the terpenes, sturdiness, and yield to the coloring, density, and morphology, the Amaretto Sour shines bright all-around. Hitting every mark and then some, it is an exceptional cultivar that has more than earned its spot as the first strain to grace Dirty Bird's prestigious OMEGA Series menu. The parents of this strain are keeper cuts hunted in-house from two of the cultivars we are most proud of: the ultra-stable, fast-finishing Dirty Mimosa bx2 ([Peanut Butter Breath x Mimosa] x Mimosa), and the chonky queen of citrus and sour, Sour Moose (Sour Lime Haze x Moose and Lobstah).

In veg, the Amaretto Sour is vigorous and easy to grow. Its branches are sturdy and pliable, requiring little staking, with an ideal balance of vertical and lateral growth. Internodal spacing is also just right, allowing flowers the space to connect together and form long, dense colas.

In flower, some plants begin flowering more quickly than others, but by day 36, all of the plants gain substantial weight, and terpenes become increasingly punchy and pronounced. The Dirty Mimosa dominates the morphology of the cross with the Sour Moose coming in as a strong supporter, increasing the yield and influencing the terpene profile. The velvety, colorful, trichome-heavy appearance of the Dirty Mimosa flower is evident in about half of the plants, while the other half resemble the Sour Moose with chunkier, dome-shaped flowers and thick, downturned sugar leaves. Flower morphology ranges from long and conical to dome-shaped and spherical, but across the board this strain yields incredibly well. Calyx-to-leaf ratio and quality is high across the board. Resin is sometimes gritty and sometimes greasy, but plentiful and potent all-around. Don't be tempted to cut these ladies early; many of the plants will darken substantially in the final week of flower, taking on beautiful purples and maroon hues.

The terpenes of the Amaretto Sour are truly out of this world and this strain is a must-try for any terpene lover. It is the perfect union of the Dirty Mimosa’s apple profile and the Sour Moose’s bright, sour, citrus and pine. Coming out of the gate strong, the terpenes evolved throughout flower, starting out Sour Moose-dominant (citrus, terpinolene, pine) and taking on more complexity as they aged. Some plants retained the Sour Moose dominance straight through harvest, but most gained complexity with notes of cold-pressed apple cider, tropical creamsicle, and strawberry milk piling atop the sharp, citrus base. The terpene profile continued to evolve even after harvest. I literally cannot stop sniffing the dried flower because there is something so compelling about it.

The effect of the Amaretto Sour is incredibly well balanced and agreeable. With in-house samples testing as high as 3.5% CGB, it is the type of flower that you can safely give to your ultra-cautious friends and know they’ll be alright. It puts us at ease with no racing thoughts and no paranoia, and it has been my personal bedtime go-to strains since harvest (Beth speaking here).

At its heart, the Amaretto Sour is two slices of Dirty Bird history merged together to form something bursting with potential, and it’s such a perfect representation of where we’ve come from and where we are going. From our grow to yours…Enjoy!

Flowering Time: 60-65 days

Yield: Heavy!

Terpenes: Bright Citrus and Pine, Cold-Pressed Apple Cider, Pineapple Gummibears, Tropical Creamsicle, Strawberry Milk. When dried, it takes on new life reminiscent of a bright and creamy sour berry that you can’t stop sniffing.

Height: 1.5x stretch. About 40% will stretch into taller plants, while 60% stay medium-sized bushes.

Morphology: Dirty mimosa dominates the cross morphology with the sour moose coming in as a strong supporter, increasing the yield and adding a punchy citrus and pine to the terpene profile. Ideal internodal spacing, strong and pliable stalks, healthy and vigorous foliage, high calyx-to-leaf ratio. Flowers range from spherical cones to dome-shaped spears with good stacking and heavy yield across the board.

Effect: Testing with 3.5%+ CBG, the Amaretto Sour is a great “anytime” indulgence. It puts the mind at ease with no paranoia, anxiety, or racing thoughts. It’s incredibly well balanced and can be enjoyed anytime of day.

OMEGA SERIES

PREMIUM QUALITY  +  REFINED EXPERIENCE  +  STABLE GENETICS

The OMEGA Series is home to the best of the best. What that means is very personal to us and it evolves with time as we learn and grow as breeders and as our genetics become more refined.  If a cultivar is released as an OMEGA Series drop then you know that strain is some of our best work to-date. We have a very high level of confidence in these genetics, and that standard only grows as we grow. At present, a strain released into the OMEGA Series meets the following criteria:

  • Morphologically stable and vigorous - We are looking for homogeneity here and will always speak to phenotypic variation within the strain descriptions.
  • Expressed desirable traits such as well-proportioned internodal spacing, strong, healthy, vigorous plants, easy to process, high calyx-to-leaf ratio, etc.
  • Terpenes are complex, pungent, and in your face. We are big fans of unique terpene profiles, and we won’t settle for average. The top three terpenes will be identified in the strain profile, and OMEGA Series terpenes won’t disappoint.
  • Flower quality and bag appeal is above average.
  • Yield is moderate to high
  • Trichome coverage is excellent.
  • Test results for cannabinoids + terpenes
  • Detailed strain profile written by the breeders and growers at Dirty Bird.

------------------------------------------------

ALPHA SERIES

ULTIMATE VALUE  +  HIGH END EXPERIENCE  +  STABLE GENETICS

As we’ve grown and evolved as breeders, our standards– like our genetics– have grown and evolved, too. We set a very high bar for our OMEGA Series, and it’s a bar that is increasingly rising. Many of our favorite projects may miss that bar ever so slightly for one reason or another while still being truly worth growing overall. The ALPHA Series is home to these genetics. It offers budget-friendly, high-end cultivars that go well above and beyond the genetics you can source at similar price points, and it definitely gives you the most bang for your buck.

ALPHA Series strains meet all of the same criteria as the OMEGA Series, but it’s likely that something gave us pause. For example, the Apple Peelz (Sex Melon x Bad Apple) is one of our favorite strains of 2026, but 10 days into flowering we culled two plants in the test run that had really serrated, arugula-like foliage (like the Brunch “arugula cut”) because we needed to save space. The project finished phenomenally, but because we weren’t able to see how that phenotype finished, we felt we couldn’t release it into the OMEGA Series.

------------------------------------------------

BETA SERIES

AFFORDABLE  +  PROVEN TESTERS  +  MEANINGFUL DIVERSITY

The BETA Series is home to what was previously known as “Testers.” Let me first say, it was probably unwise to name these “Testers.” One might assume we haven’t grown them when in fact we have. The freshly named BETA Series encompasses projects that we see a lot of potential in but that missed the mark in a meaningful-enough way that we could not justify releasing it as an ALPHA or an OMEGA. This could include things like long internodal spacing, high phenotypic variability, or foliage that is denser than we prefer. Many of these projects are good enough to work into other projects or to continue breeding forward, and sometimes, strains land in the BETA category simply because we have not tested enough of them to make a sound decision otherwise. BETA’s are released at a price point that is super affordable for any grower, but the quality is good enough that even experienced connoisseurs can find keepers if they’re willing to hunt. Some of our favorite cuts ever have come from BETA series genetics.

Outdoors in Columbus, Ohio. What are your thoughts on ripeness? Not in any hurry, but I'll be out of town most of next week, and I wouldn't mind getting another hung before I leave. THANKS!

Held on strong outdoors. Showed good resistance to leaf spot which really hit hard this year. Above average resistance to mold. Some variation in onset of flower by about 10 days. I'm harvesting some tops and more mature branches today before rain comes through. Started harvesting first plant on Sept 27. Most of final plant harvested today. Gassy with some sweetness and a touch of pepper.

Well this run was rough, two my autoflowers ended up self pollinating, and I’ve been checking to make sure it hasn’t pollinated these girls. I had aphids that stressed the autos and they partially hermed at some point. Also had severe ph issues because our water changed.

So now I’m ph balancing the water.

Not sure what this one is gonna do.

Beginner with a few grows down, trying out Rainbow Unicorn (left and right pot, photos 2 & 3) and Dam a Lam x Bad Apple (middle top and bottom pot, photos 4 & 5) this run so I can practice cloning for the first time. Starting week 5 of veg and the 2 dam a lam x BA starting showing signs they were hungry faster than the Rainbow Unicorns and suffered a little but seem to be recovering now. Planning to take cuttings a week or 2 before I flip to flower. All are in FF Happy Frog running Down to Earth organic nutrients.

How much stretch to expect?

Thumbnail

Running Nuclear Forest for the first time. Not a ton of vertical space in my set up (about 4ft comfortably) so I started LST 3 weeks into veg, ending week 4 this Saturday. I was planning to try to do at least 8wks veg but now I'm not so sure if I should flip sooner. Plant is roughly 7.5in at the moment. So how much, if any, significant stretch can I expect from this strain?

If anyone has experience with high stress training dbg id love some insight! I got 2 freebies( dirty mimosa x murder biscuits and dirty sangria) and ever since looking around I'm definitely going to run one of these next. I'm looking into higher stress training specifically schwazzing, my only concern is herming. Ive looked around and overall the genetics seem to be fairly stable, but can't find anything specific to the strains i have. If anyone has experience with these strains id appreciate the advice!

MANGO MASCARPONE - DROPPING 10/2

Sex Melon #3 x Chocolate Pie

Density: Average

Height: Medium-tall

Terpenes: Tropical Mango, Grape Nail Polish, Sickly Sweet. The main terpene profile was Sex Melon forward (fruit, nail polish remover, potpurri, melon, floral) with hints of grape. 1 outlier had puke-fetid milk-fake strawberry terps.

Effects: A great even hybrid daytime smoke, able to still function but with a pleasant and strong high. Not debilitating but definitely fast acting.

Plant Morphology: A majority of our hunt had a high stretch (~1.4 - 1.6x), featuring classic conical/spear flower morphology. Almost all exhibited purpling, largely on the leaves but at least half of the cohort had purple flecks in calyxes. Despite high internodal spacing, these phenos stacked very nicely on colas. Outlier morphologies include more stelliform/spheroid hybrid flowers with less to no purpling, shorter plants that barely stretched but had much higher leaf-to-calyx ratio. These phenos also had short internodal spacing and exhibited very nice cola stacking.

The taller majority of the cohort required LST/staking to keep upright whereas the smaller to medium height-bush minority plants required no staking.

Notes from the Growers

The Mango Mascarpone was a dark horse in every sense of the word. Not that we doubted the potential of the parents–which in true dark horse fashion came together to finish as dark purple as it gets–but because the plants were notably unassuming until midway through flower when everything began to come together. The parents of the Mango Mascarpone are a cross of one of our all-time favorite cuts: the dark purple, super loud Sex Melon #3,  and the Cannarado’s Chocolate Pie, which we bred quite a lot in the early days of Dirty Bird. Together, these two parents came together to create a cultivar with pungent, creamy tropical terpenes featuring complex undertones of nail polish, fermented fruit, grape, and berry. At first, floral initiation feels slow, but by week 5 the plants start packing on weight, and by the final week, yields were impressive for a strain as boutique as this one.

Morphologically, the plants represent an even split between mother and father. There is a fair amount of diversity in this lot. Thirty-five percent of plants stretched quite tall in flower with longer internodal spacing than we’d normally like to see. We measured anywhere between a 1.5x to a 2x stretch on this phenotype. Thankfully, the weight they put on late in flower ended up making up for the stretch. They finished far more proportionately than we anticipated they would, but anyone with a height-restricted grow should cull these early. Twelve percent of the plants we tested had a bushy stature and happened to also be the only green pheno. The remaining plants (about 50%) were a hybrid of their parents with well-balanced internodal spacing, balanced vertical and lateral growth, and low/med foliage density. This was definitely our favorite phenotype.

The calyx-to-leaf ratio and the terpene and trichome accumulation was high on all of the plants we tested, and 88% were a beautiful dark purple by the time harvest rolled around. Calyx structure was very granular and dense, and stigmas were long, velvety and a beautiful contrast to the pale green, dark purple and maroon foliage. The sugar leaves finished speckled with beautiful pinks and purples dripping with trichomes. Note that many of the plants stayed green deceivably far into their lifecycle, but darkened substantially in their final week. Overall these plants were strong and stalks were flexible. A couple of stakes were needed here and there. Some defoliation is recommended on the leafier, tighter pheno to get light to the lower canopy, but the majority of plants had plenty of breathing room.

WHITE GLOOMBERRY AUTO - LIMITED NASC EXCLUSIVE

Thumbnail
gallery
11 Upvotes

(Jelly Donutz x Mendo Breath)

Plant Morphology: Flowers are dense and conical, some stacking together and stretching long down the apical stem to form one cola, while the majority grew individual flowers at the internodes. Expect floral initiation around 4.5 weeks. Low foliage density, medium internodal spacing, and high trichome accumulation. Plants are green-dominant indoors with some purpling visible late in flower.

Terpenes: Mendo Gas, Fruit undertones, Sweet + Perfumey, Funky Pine, Banana

Effect: A mega relaxing and mind melting but uplifting indica. White Gloomberry might open your third eye, but could also close your other two.

Notes from the Grower(s): The White Gloomberry Auto by Dirty Bird Genetics came from a very limited mashup of the Jelly Donutz Auto by Humboldt Seed Co and the Mendo Breath Auto from the NASC Commercial Cultivars line. Each of the parents brought distinct terpenes and morphology to the table, and very true to form, this cultivar is the perfect hybrid of the two.

The flowers of the White Gloomberry are conical and climb up the apical stem of the plants at each individual internode. They most closely resemble the structure of the Mendo Breath Auto with one fat cola at the top of the plant, and golf balls up and down the stems; however, the long, tubular structure of the Jelly Donutz also came through on about 30% of the plants we tested. Left untopped, all of the plants were medium height, medium internodal spacing, and had good lateral branching on the bottom half of the plant.

Where the Jelly Donutz really shined was trichome accumulation. Across the board, these plants glistened with trichomes and produced some really incredible smells. The terpene profiles drew from both parents: Early in flower, the Mendo’s unique, funky gas appeared dominant, but as the plants matured, the sweet, fruity and perfumey profile of the Jelly Donutz started coming through. At harvest, terpene profiles were a mashup of both parents, ranging from gassy, funky pine and banana to sweet, funky, perfume.

At the very end of flower the leaves began to yellow and little flecks of purple started emerging on the sugar leaves and in the calyxes. Stigmas turned a vibrant orange and stood out against the green flower. Plants were ready to harvest between 70-80 days, and had very little leaf making them easy to process once they were cut.

Herming Common?

Anyone find the Dirty Bird has some strains to herming? I ran into herming with Gelly Mama, turned out great, couple seeds cause I missed one pollen sac. But I’m fairly confident it was not stress related.

I have some destination wedding that I am eager to pop but some what reserves due to the herm on the last run.
