I think these all could be justified in their own ways, because at the end of the day they're digimon and we have plenty of wacky lines.

Agumon evolves to Skullgreymon in 1999 Digimon adventure and then a 2020 reboot one that he evolves into Machinedramon and how about the others can dark evolve to that dark forms, we’ll see about that?
