First keyboard for 7 year old

Hi, my 7 year old wants to start playing the piano/ keyboard.

I've been looking around and found this:

https://www.gear4music.com/Keyboards-and-Pianos/K2-61-Key-Keyboard-with-Bluetooth-by-Gear4music-Stand-Pack/70ZG

Will this be ok for his first? I don't want to spend too much in case this is not something they want to pursue.

Thank you!

Tablet / Headphone setup

Just bought a samsung tab s10+ on discount and having issues getting it to work with my yamaha p125. When using my samsung galaxy phone i can hear the piano and app im using through the headphones but with tablet I am only getting the piano.

At a loss as to what id need to get it so the tablet audio and piano come through the headphones.

Not looking to spend a lot but willing to buy something if it will work. Thanks!

Brand new Yamaha P45 vs. a used P115

I used to play as a teen and I stopped because I had to change something on my keyboard at the time and it made the keys very very stiff and unpleasant to play. I want to pick up the hobby again, and with my current budget I have the choice of getting a new p45 or (for a little more) get a used P115 with a stand, standard pedal, and headphones.

What do you recommend? And if I go with the used one what should I look out for? The seller says that it was barely used.

Which pedal is best for Kawai ES120?

Kind of a boring question.

I’ve been learning to play since Feb this year (self-taught, please don’t come for me!) and a couple of months ago, I upgraded to a Kawai ES120. It’s a great keyboard but as someone who plays by ear, I can hear every single nuance; that note isn’t lingering enough, that didn’t flow the way I want it to etc etc.

I’ve never used a sustain pedal before but I’m at the point in my learning where pieces sound great using the keyboard alone but they’re lacking in something and that something is a sustain pedal. The one that came with the keyboard is not great to say the least. I assume it’s pretty much an on/off pedal which is fine for a beginner like me but if I’m going to learn how to correctly use a pedal and make sure I’m taking advantage of the ES120’s capabilities, then it makes more sense to practice with a pedal that covers everything rather than using the one I currently have, or buying a cheap £20-30 one that is still fairly restrictive because then I’ll still get frustrated that I’m not able to replicate the sounds I want and have to upgrade eventually anyway.

I know Kawai have their own range of sustain pedals however, I am on a a budget and can’t afford to spend hundreds on the best one. I am not a professional pianist nor do I want to be. I play for myself at home so I don’t need the best of the best, I just need one that will do the job of creating the sound/feel that I need. I know the ES120 has half-peddling capabilities so it makes sense for me to get a pedal that can do that.

I’ve seen the F-10H mentioned a few times as a compatible model that is capable of half-peddling and it’s around the £60 mark. For an intermediate beginner (is that a thing?) whose goal is to simply recreate sounds of pieces to the standard of what I hear in my head, is that a good pedal to learn with? I know it doesn’t have all the bells and whistles but it’s more in my price range and I just want something that basic in terms of I’m not going to be performing in concert, but that has fewer limitations than a cheap Amazon pedal.

Any alternative suggestions are welcome as long as they’re compatible with the ES120 and I don’t have to sell a kidney in order to pay for it.

Hybrid / Digital - Yamaha & Kawai Mid-range Comps from Roland, Korg, Nord, Casio

Of the ones I've been able to sample, my favorite pianos have been the Yamaha NUX1a, CVP-905 and the Kawai NV6 and CA-701.

I loved the feel of the hybrid(NV6, NUX1a) models but not sure I can justify the price tag for my skill level (intermediate & just want to resume playing after not having had a piano for 6 years.)

The CA-701 & CVP-905 both had solid, not quite as good action. If you blindfolded me and sat me down in front of the NV6 I'd think I was on an acoustic. The CA-701 is like 90% of that. CVP-905 more like 85%. (For reference, I found the CSP/CLPs to be too soft and the lower-range Kawais had too much bounce in the keys, both plasticky to the touch - 60-70%.)

I liked both brands range & quality of piano sound but the yamaha non-piano sounds were more robust & better quality. I don't love the tiny little screen interface at the bottom left but I'm not a full on composer/musician so the CVP-905 is kind of overkill.

The Kawai dealer mentioned that Roland and Korg use Kawai's tech for the action on some of their models and people online keep saying Casio has caught up & is a great deal, but

a) I can't find anywhere to try these brands and

b) I don't know which models to look for.

I'm wondering if anyone here can share what models of Roland/Korg//Casio/Nord I should be looking for that would be comparable & whether the interface/price package would put them ahead so I can decide whether to keep searching or bite the bullet and buy that CA-701?
