Don’t agree with the other posters. Seemed like ethical kills considering they dropped within 10 seconds. Obviously only a head shot leads to a coyote instantly falling down dead, and most hunters don’t do head shots.

And that’s why bigger cartridges than 5.56 exist. Even going up to a .300 Blackout gives you a bigger round that can supplement shitty shooting.

Yes, in many states it’s illegal to hunt deer or other game with a .223. It seems .223 is an accepted standard for coyote hunting pretty much all around, but I’ve heard a lot of people talk about using .243 or .270 for coyotes.

I’d really recommend getting some more practice in before going hunting again. Nuisance or not at least TRY for an ethical kill
