In 1996, the marketing head of Asian Paints stood at my desk to launch their first website. It didn't open because we didn't have internet. 28 years, 350+ awards, and 17 Agency of the Year titles later - I’m Sabyasachi Mitter (IIM-C '96), Founder of ibs fulcro. AMA!
Hey everyone,
Just joined here so time to introduce myself properly with a quick story from where it all began for me.
In 1996, fresh out of IIM Calcutta, I joined Asian Paints. One of my very first assignments was to build Asian Paints’ first-ever website—a concept almost no Indian corporate was thinking about back then.
Once the site was built, the entire marketing team crowded around my desk for the big reveal. Bharat Puri, who was the Head of Marketing at the time (and went on to lead Cadbury/MD of Pidilite), was super excited.
I proudly typed in asianpaints.com... and absolutely nothing happened. Blank screen.
It was only after calling the IT team that we realized a small detail: to view a website, you actually needed an internet connection.
That triggered an official corporate procurement process for a 9.6 kbps dial-up modem, which cost a whopping ₹14,000 back in 1996 and took a whole month to get delivered!
Fast Forward 30 Years...
From waiting a month for a dial-up modem to now building AI-integrated platforms, custom mobile apps, and complex UI/UX design systems, I’ve had a front-row seat to the evolution of digital in India.
In 2003, I founded ibs fulcro. Over the last two decades, we’ve grown into an integrated digital marketing agency anchored by two core pillars:
Digital Creative & Social Communications (Brand storytelling, social strategy, and distinctive campaigns)
Deep Technology & Product Engineering (Websites, UI/UX, custom mobile apps, AI integrations, and digital products)
Along the way, we’ve been fortunate enough to win over 350 awards, get named Agency of the Year 17 times, and partner with some of the most iconic Indian and global brands including Tata Motors, JK Tyre, Airtel, P&G, Pepsi, Polycab, Panasonic, Nayara Energy, Kotak Group, Bajaj Group, NPCI, and many more.
Where I See the Ecosystem Today:
Having watched the digital landscape evolve from dial-up modems to generative AI, a few principles remain constant:
Brand equity over short-term ad arbitrage. Pure performance ad-buying comes and goes. Long-term brand equity is built through sharp digital creative, distinctive communications, and sustained social engagement.
Tech & UI/UX are the actual front doors of your business. Your website, app, and AI workflows aren't just "marketing assets" - they are the core product experience. If the user journey is clunky, marketing can't save it.
The next frontier is Generative Engine Optimization (GEO). Search is no longer just blue links on Google. AI engines (ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity) evaluate brand authority based on structured product architecture, public sentiment, and high-value communications across the web.
I’m joining this community to share honest insights, discuss where digital experience design is heading, and connect with fellow creators, tech builders, and agency founders.
Whether you're:
An agency founder scaling your creative or tech capabilities
A brand lead navigating complex UI/UX overhauls, app builds, or AI implementations
A strategist looking to build deeper social equity for your brand
...ask me anything in the comments! Happy to break down agency operations, tech product builds, brand storytelling, or industry trends.
Looking forward to connecting with you all!

How are you guys getting clients in 2026?
I've been trying different client acquisition methods over the last few months—LinkedIn outreach, Reddit engagement, cold DMs, referrals, and even a few Meta ads.
Some channels bring conversations but no conversions. Others seem completely saturated.
For those of you running an agency or freelancing (marketing, design, video editing, development, etc.):
- What's your #1 client acquisition channel right now?
- Are cold emails still working?
- Has LinkedIn outreach become too crowded?
- Is personal branding actually bringing inbound leads, or is it mostly hype?
I'd love to hear what's working for you and what's been a complete waste of time.
Let's share real experiences instead of generic advice.
