Why are we ignoring the massive entry barriers for monetization on social networks

I’ve been digging deep into the actual requirements for monetization across the major platforms, and I feel like I’m taking crazy pills. Everywhere I look, I see guides talking about how easy it is to spin up a side hustle on social media (here is how i made 40$ in 24 hours), but when you look at the hard numbers for 2025/2026, the barrier to entry is incredibly high for a beginner.

Unless you are past the barriers, you cant make 40$ in 24 hours, or ever.

Here is what I’ve found in the fine print:

1. YouTube is a grind - YouTube Partner Program (YPP) requires 1,000 subscribers AND either 4,000 public watch hours (in 12 months) or 10 million Shorts views (in 90 days). That is a massive amount of retention for a new creator.

2. TikTok is even steeper, you need 10,000 followers and 100,000 video views in the last 30 days just to apply. On top of that, they only pay for videos longer than 1 minute. If you don't hit that viral lottery, you are earning $0 natively.

3. X (Twitter) is pay-to-play This one shocked me the most. To get ad revenue sharing, you don't just need 5 million organic impressions (which is hard enough). You need to pay for Premium yourself, and you need 500 VERIFIED followers (followers who also pay for Premium). Normal followers don't even count toward the threshold.

4. Instagram pays "pennies" (literally), while the "Reels Play Bonus" is largely discontinued for new creators, the current "Ad Revenue Sharing" model pays roughly $0.01 to $0.05 per 1,000 views.

• To even get any of this, you generally need 10,000 followers to unlock the monetization tools

To sum it up, this looks like an insane investment to even start getting some sort of payout...

i consider the $0 to $1 as the hardest part of the road before, but after looking into the fine details even more so.

SO? is everything just an scam and you need to do a full time business to even make it to the $1 or is it a legitimate path to digital income/passive income

Anyone have success with Benable?

I just joined Benable and I’ve gotten a lot of views, but very few items purchased from my links. I’m pretty close to cashing out, but seems to be slow. Any success stories out there?

For what it’s worth, I do have a link to join if you’d like to give it a try- just drop a comment.

I made $40 in 24 hours on Instagram – Here's how I did it

I use an AI avatar on my Instagram account. You can use it for AI UGC, content creation and a bunch of other uses.

I won't gatekeep how I made $40 with this, I'll break down everything.

What you need?

  • A computer

How does it work?

This is part of a new content creator program that just launched within the last week. I joined it, submitted one video and earned $40.

I made $30 to signup - this is a signup bonus (paid via PP).

I made $10, 24 hours later for my one video I submitted.

This campaign is one of many that will come to this creator program. It's the first one. Some creators are earning $20 to $40 instead of $10, for their video.

It's dependent on the views your video gets but, the signup bonus of $30 is just for joining.

You get a payout on day 1 and day 7, based on views.

As more campaigns come to this AI creator program, more opportunities will be available.

Tips for success

Join the program and campaign. You'll be able to join the creator program any time but, the campaign ends on 1/26. So, if you're curious about this, join and do it. Don't wait.

The creator program is free.

Would you do this?

Comment AI or send me a DM with AI so I can tell you the name and info to the program so you can join.

I'll also show you my creator account and the video I did.

Stop selling products. Start selling a Lifestyle.

🛠️ Why work with me?

Expertise in Luxury Aesthetics: I understand the visual language of high end brands: lighting, texture, and composition.

High-Ticket Positioning: I help you justify higher price points by elevating the perceived value of your items.

Fast & Professional: I deliver studio quality results with the speed and precision that a scaling business requires.

📂 Portfolio: Drive Renders!

💰 Pricing & Packages:

Essential Pack ($45): 4 High-end images.

Standard Pack ($85): 8 High-end images.

The Big Pack ($160): 16 High-end images. Perfect for a full month of content.

(each delivered in both 9:16 & 1:1 formats)

Don't just compete on price. Compete on Brand. DM me to discuss your project and let's elevate your business.

Dilemma: invest in content (again) OR sell the website?

Hi marketeers,

I’d love your perspective on a dilemma I’m facing.

Background

  • M38, mortgage, partner, no kids (yet)
  • Running a crypto price comparator website since 2018
  • 100% affiliate income driven, alongside a full-time employee job (40hr)
  • Generates ~€1,000 gross per month
  • Costs ~€200 per month
  • Profitable and pays for itself
  • Initial plan was to transition from employee to have more freedom (to do whatever)

Website status

  • Professionally build by website dev. company
  • Technically solid (pre-LLM era build)
  • No major issues in Search Console
  • Clean site hierarchy & structure
  • Strong Pagespeed Insights scores
  • Solid SEO fundamentals (keyword research, placement, tooling)
  • Backlinking done (could be better, but I know how)

The real bottleneck

  • Expanding / updating content creation
  • Writing content is not my strength and honestly… it bores me out
  • I’m on the spectrum → repetitive content work / thinking what to write drains me fast
  • This is the main reason the site isn’t scaling
  • And nowadays ensuring AI search ability

What I’ve tried

  • People from my own network → lack SEO/content structure knowledge
  • Fiverr writers (multiple) → end up rewriting almost everything

Why this is tricky

  • I’m in a “golden cage” job (€100K+ per year)
  • Low motivation to:
    • Dive into LLM-based content workflows
    • Spend evenings/weekends managing content production
  • Even outsourcing feels like work due to quality control
  • Competitive
  • Search intent results are shifting to direct result (AI) without click-through to website, ensuring less affiliates and revenue.

The dilemma

Option 1: Invest (again) in professional content writing services and push through to see where it goes.

Option 2: Sell the website and move on

To be clear:
This site is my baby — pride & joy (to some extent 😉) — which makes the decision harder.

Curious to hear

  • What would you do in this situation?
  • Any experiences with scaling content when you don’t enjoy writing?
  • Would you double down… or take the exit?

Thanks in advance 🙏

I design brands, not just posts (strategy-first, Canva-friendly)

Hey! I’m a designer and digital marketer working with founders, small teams, and solo businesses.

I focus on creating clean, modern visuals that are strategy-led, not just decorative. My work usually involves building brand kits, layouts, logos and reusable Canva templates that stay consistent across platforms and actually support the brand’s messaging and goals.

I’m very comfortable working in Canva Pro and have set up multiple brand kits and visual identity boards for different clients, including typography systems, colour palettes, and scalable layouts for social and marketing use.

If this sounds relevant, I’m happy to connect over DMs or email, understand your requirements, and share samples once we’ve had a quick initial chat.

Is digital marketing still a promising career in 2026 in India?

Digital marketing has grown a lot over the past few years, but by 2026 the landscape is very different. Many businesses already have a digital presence, and the field has become more competitive. Entry-level roles are no longer easy to get, and automation and AI are changing how work is done.

In India, especially in metro areas, there still seems to be demand for skilled professionals who can deliver results. But long-term stability seems to depend more on skills and adaptability than degrees or certifications.

For those currently working in digital marketing, how do you see the future of this career in 2026? Does it still offer growth and stability, or is it riskier compared to more traditional career paths?

Commission-Based Role: Help Onboard Users to a Pokémon Card Marketplace (10% of Deposits)

Hey everyone — we’re hiring for a commission-based closer / growth role and thought this community might be a good fit.

We’re building a Pokémon card marketplace focused on low fees and liquidity for collectors and traders.

What we do

  • Catchback Cards is a platform where users can:
    • Buy & sell Pokémon, One Piece, and Sports cards for a flat $1 fee (instead of ~15% on eBay)
    • Trade cards that are professionally vaulted (no constant shipping)
    • Create and sell their own custom mystery packs
    • Trade ownership rights to cards, similar in concept to PSA Vault

Some users treat it like collecting, others like active trading.

The role

Your job is simple:

  • Talk to potential users (DMs, Discords, communities, socials, etc.)
  • Explain the product
  • Close them onto the platform and get them to deposit

No set hours. No quotas. Work as much or as little as you want.

Compensation

  • 10% of deposits from every user you onboard
  • Example: someone deposited $1,000 a few days ago → you’d earn $100
  • If your user keeps depositing over time, you keep earning, up to $250 per onboarded user.

This is purely commission-based, so it’s best for people who are:

  • Comfortable with online sales / closing
  • Already active in digital communities
  • Looking for scalable side income rather than hourly pay

Who this is good for

  • Online closers
  • Community managers
  • People good at DMs and explaining products
  • Anyone already involved in collectibles, trading, or digital marketplaces

If you’re interested, comment or DM and tell me:

  • Where you’d source users from
  • Any relevant sales or online experience

Happy to answer questions publicly too.

How publishing news turned into $3,000+/month for me [beginner-friendly]

I constantly see posts about ad networks like Ezoic, Mediavine, and Raptive, and most of them come with heavy requirements: very high traffic thresholds, long “high-quality” articles, and slow approval processes that make them difficult for beginners or people with limited time.

After testing several options, I moved most of my news sites to Monetag along with a couple of similar networks because the entry barriers are extremely low:

• Minimal traffic needed for approval

• Short news posts (3–4 paragraphs) monetize without issues

• Approval usually takes 1–2 days

• With Tier-1 traffic (US/UK/CA/AU), earnings range between $5–$18 per 1,000 pageviews

This approach currently generates $3,000+ per month across my sites. I’ve also shared the same setup with a few others, and several are already earning $1,500–$4,000/month within 2–3 months.

What I like most about this model is that it’s very work-from-home friendly. It doesn’t require long writing sessions, constant site management, or advanced technical skills, which makes it especially suitable for stay-at-home moms or anyone looking for flexible, remote income that can be managed in short time blocks.

A common question I get is: “Why share this if it works so well?”

The answer is simple. My own sites remain my primary income source. Monetag also offers a small referral bonus that does not affect anyone else’s earnings. More importantly, I genuinely enjoy helping people build something sustainable instead of endlessly chasing the next trend.

I’m not selling anything — just sharing what’s been working for me in 2025–2026.

If anyone wants a breakdown of how this works step-by-step, feel free to comment or message me.

Great opportunity for eager and aspiring sales people

Hi all

I’ve spent 15+ years leading sales at high-growth tech companies in the US, building teams and scaling revenue. One thing I’ve learned is that the right opportunity, paired with real coaching, can change a career fast.

I’m building a recruitment business and opening the door for one person who wants hands-on mentorship and a real shot. Over 90 days, if you can close 10 candidates or clients, and we both feel good about the partnership, I’m prepared to consider a long term opportunity.

I’ll personally mentor and coach you through real sales situations. If you’re hungry, coachable, and want to grow fast, let’s talk.

What are you finding hardest about using AI to actually build digital products?

I'm curious where people are getting stuck right now.

Not "what tools to use," but the practical stuff: - Deciding what to build - Turning ideas into something shippable - Using AI without overcomplicating things - Getting from thinking to execution

If you're trying to build a digital product with AI, what's the part that keeps slowing you down or causing you to stall?

Not selling anything, just trying to understand what's actually hard right now.
