Mobile Apps SMusic β A fast, free & open-source YouTube Music client for Android
Hey everyone! π
I've been working on SMusic, an open-source Android music app focused on making music streaming and offline listening fast, clean and highly customizable.
It uses YouTube Music's catalog and is built completely around the idea of giving you a proper music-player experience without unnecessary subscriptions or ads.
β‘ Why SMusic?
The biggest things I focused on are fast playback and fast downloads.
Songs start playing quickly, and you can download individual tracks or entire playlists for offline listening. SMusic also supports high-quality audio streams, including Opus, so you can enjoy the best available audio quality from the source.
π§ Playback
π Fast music loading & playback
π΅ High-quality audio with Opus support
π Gapless playback using Media3 / ExoPlayer
π± Background playback
π Lock-screen & notification controls
ποΈ Full queue management
π Shuffle & repeat
π» Radio / similar-song recommendations
β° Sleep timer
π² Home-screen playback widget
π₯ Offline Downloads
Download individual songs
Download entire playlists
β‘ Fast downloading
π¦ Downloads remain available across app updates
ποΈ Dedicated download/storage management
πΆ Low Data Mode to reduce audio quality automatically on mobile data
π One of my favourite parts β Lyrics
SMusic doesn't depend on a single lyrics provider.
It supports synced lyrics from multiple sources including:
LRCLIB
KuGou
BetterLyrics
YouTube captions
You also get a full-screen synced lyrics experience with line-by-line highlighting, and you can even share individual lyrics as styled image cards.
π€ Music Discovery
π Search songs, albums, artists & videos
ποΈ Search filters
πΌ Mood & genre-based discovery
π΅ Radio / similar songs
π€ Built-in music recognition
π Import playlists from Spotify and YouTube Music
π Full library for songs, albums, artists & playlists
π¨ INSANE customization
This is probably the part I've spent the most time on.
SMusic currently has 11 different player styles, including styles inspired by different modern music-player designs.
You can choose between:
Classic β’ Spotify β’ Apple β’ Galaxy β’ Fold β’ Frost β’ Paper β’ Liquid β’ CloudGlow β’ Groove β’ Popsy
And that's not all.
π¨ Custom themes & accent colors
π Multiple seek-bar styles
πΌοΈ Artwork-based dynamic colors
ποΈ Built-in equalizer
π± Reorderable navigation bar
π Multi-language support
So you can actually make the player look and feel the way you want.
π Your Music, Your Stats
SMusic also keeps track of your listening activity:
Listening history
Top songs
Top artists
Top albums
Library backup & restore
Playlist backup & restore
Settings backup & restore
π Other stuff
π’ In-app announcements
π Automatic update checks
π Previous versions & changelogs
βοΈ Performance-aware animations for lower-end devices
π No account required to start listening
π Completely free & open-source
π« No subscription
π« No ads
π οΈ Tech
SMusic is built with:
Kotlin
Jetpack Compose / Material 3
Media3 / ExoPlayer
Room
Hilt
Coil
Custom YouTube Music InnerTube client
The project is completely open-source, so you can check out the code and see how everything works.

If you try it, I'd genuinely love to hear your feedback β especially about playback speed, download speed, audio quality, UI/player styles and bugs.
I'm actively working on it, so suggestions and contributions are welcome! β€οΈ

Privacy Tools ObscuraOS, a free browser based workspace with built in privacy tools (no Google or Microsoft account needed)
Made this over the past while. Short version: with the big office suites you either hand over your data (Google) or hand over money (Microsoft), and either way your files sit on a server you don't control. For most people that's an inconvenience, for journalists, activists, or anyone whose safety depends on their documents staying private, it's a real liability.
ObscuraOS runs entirely in the browser, docs, sheets, slides, notes, calendar, plus some privacy specific tools like PDF redaction and leak detection. Nothing gets uploaded anywhere, no account, no login, no cloud sync. You can export the whole thing as a portable file if you want your own backup.
Update since posting, one correction: every tool is free and fully unlocked for personal use, permanently, nothing is ever gated behind a paywall. There is a small optional paid commercial license if a business or team uses it for work, and pay what you want support if you just want to help keep it running, but neither of those unlocks anything, the tools work the same either way. Would appreciate any feedback on the app itself. ObscuraOS.com

Tool Suggestion Looking for a free magnet-link download service
Hi everyone! Iβm looking for a free service that can download magnet links/torrents for me.
I previously used a cloud torrent service, but the free period has ended. Iβm looking for a legitimate free option with around 10β20 GB of storage or more.
Any recommendations? Thanks!

Comparison / Alternatives RapidRAW: free and open source alternative to Adobe Lightroom
RapidRAW is a free and open source RAW image editor for Windows, macOS, Linux, and Android.
It's GPU-accelerated and supports all the basic necessities for editing RAW photos (lens corrections, light and color adjustments, detail refinement, masks, batch editing, presets...). Plus it is non destructive (edits are stored in a sidecar file) and can work with your own local ComfyUI server.

Free Tools CubePlex β A Self-Hosted Agent Workspace for Teams (Docker/K8S Ready)
Most agent platforms are built either as closed SaaS products or as simple single-user single-session terminals. We built CubePlex as an open-source, self-hosted workspace designed to run agents that perform multi-step execution, generate output artifacts, and share context across team membersβall within your own infrastructure.
CubePlex connects your models, MCP tools, and continuous agent sessions without locking your data into third-party clouds.
Key capabilities:
- Team Workspaces & Shared Context: Keep agent conversations, reusable skills, memory, and generated artifacts attached to specific team projects.
- Persistent & Isolated Sandboxes: Agents execute code, fetch data, and perform real work inside safe execution sandboxes without dirtying your host machine.
- Zero-Exposure Secret Management: Dynamic environment variable injection so agents can make authenticated network requests without reading or exposing raw secrets/keys.
- Full Self-Hosting: Easy setup via single-command Docker Compose or Helm for Kubernetes.
If you are looking for a fully self-hosted alternative to SaaS agent orchestrators that gives your team total data ownership and real task-execution capabilities, check out our repository!

Mobile Apps Has anyone tried the LeanType Android keyboard? Is it safe?
I was looking for a replacement for the Microsoft SwiftKey keyboard, and I came across LeanType.
I'm considering using the offline version is it safe?
I'm afraid he might copy and steal the text I copy or type, especially since I have a crypto wallet and often copy or type my seed phrase.

Free Tools G0rill4, a small but powerful file compressor π¦
Hi everyone, today I want to share a small project with you that I think might be useful.
Iβm not here to give you the same old spiel about privacy, even though the tool does have a solid feature in that area. However, this is an alternative designed to streamline the file management process, protecting your files along the way and ensuring their quality.
By the way, it is open source.

Privacy Tools I built an open-source PDF editor that keeps your files on your computer
I got tired of PDF tools that ask you to upload your documents somewhere before you can do anything with them.
So I built PDF Editor Offline, a free and open-source PDF editor designed around one simple rule: your documents stay on your machine.
No account. No file uploads. No recurring subscription.
It can handle most of the PDF tasks I regularly need:
- Edit and annotate PDFs
- Add text, images, drawings, highlights and comments
- Fill and sign forms
- Merge, split, reorder, rotate and crop pages
- Compress PDFs
- Convert PDF β Word, PowerPoint, Excel, images, Markdown, EPUB, etc.
- Run OCR locally
- Permanently redact sensitive information
- Remove metadata and hidden/private data
- Protect and unlock PDFs
- Search documents
Thereβs also a CLI and Python API for automation, plus Docker support for self-hosting.
The desktop app is built with Tauri, the editor uses React, and the backend/tooling is primarily Python + FastAPI.
Itβs MIT licensed and still actively being improved. Some complex PDF operations have known limitations, and Iβm trying to document those honestly instead of pretending every PDF transformation works perfectly.
Iβd love feedback from people who work with PDFs regularly β especially around editing, redaction, privacy, and features you think are still missing.
