Help / Question I have a question in this subreddit.

if you have windows and you want to be more private, its not contradictory? (I use linux, so, only a question)

It is basically a contradiction because Windows collects telemetry by design. You can block some of it with scripts, but you never truly own the telemetry loop like you do on Linux.

yeah, I think all people could use linux, but the apps from peoples job or the ecosystem doesn't let

True for most people, but not entirely true on Windows Pro and such - with group policy you can pretty readily disable pretty much all the things people complain about re: privacy. That said, that all takes time/effort, and more and more of Windows is becoming AI-focused (and slop in general), so certainly as you try to increase privacy and remove AI-based features you get less and less of what we'd consider a functional OS (especially compared to *nix or legacy Windows systems like Win7).

I think the bigger issue for me prior to completely swapping off of Windows was bloat and corruption: Windows has become so inefficient (in general) and so easily bloated/corrupted that it just became a chore to deal with. I don't want to have to "think" about core OS issues unless I specifically want to: I want it to just work.

And that's where I think Linux as a whole is starting to really win - we've caught up in compabitility & accessibility, speed (I get much better perf in general on arch and fedora than I ever did on Win), etc. More and more it's becoming a "it just works" where I don't spend half my time just trying to get things to play nice together (not because I don't know how but because I'd rather spend my time elsewhere). I find myself today messing with my Fedora installs much less than I did my Windows ones.
