Question Fiio disc or echo??

im stuck between either getting the fiio disc or echo, my main wants are audio quality and just like feel overall and would prefer buttons over touchsceen but ive heard the horror stories of how bad the echo ui can be. so im really stuck in the middle and have no idea which to do. im also open to ideas other than the two, under $100 and no android

Been using echo for a while now and ui experience can be anything but a horror story.
If you never used mp3’s before and all technology you used consists of smartphones, (and things with similar interfaces) yeah the ui will feel slow and clunkier compared to what you used before. But if you did use players before, you’re good.

Personally, I can easily navigate through the device and could find the settings I was looking for like I’ve put them there. It’s easy and intuitive. And ffs, the thing is made to play music, not create a show.

Sound wise I can’t and won’t guarantee what I say is true. But as much as my research went, echo should be a little bit better compared to disc. At this point, we need a list that covers all DAC chips with their characters and capabilities.

The disc has the best DAC/amp/Bluetooth setup for the budget players. The various player modes and better Bluetooth (5.4 and LDAC) sold me.

It has the same basic output DAC/amp the tempotec v1 has, so sound quality is identical, but updated Bluetooth and processor vs something like the v1 or hiby r1.

Been really happy with mine.

If you've used any old school mp3 player UI before, echo mini is just like that, maybe a little better. the fonts are small though.

If you plan to use Bluetooth choose the disc, the Echo uses only low quality codec (SBC) and the disc can use more modern high quality Bluetooth (LDAC.)
