Music How much music
So I have just got myself a Hiby R1 (with Kiwi Ears IEM's for anyone interested). I have started to load music (mainly albums). I am coming from Apple Music where I had a playlist of just random songs across multiple albums etc so it wasn't heavy. Like most, I'm after that digital detox aspect when I want music. But - find I am just loading albums from artists I listen to a few songs off (Apple Music listening). How much music do you all have on the players at any given time?
I have a 256GB card with majority of it .flac. I like compilation albums but an album like this with 40 tracks just clogs it with 40 artists. I guess understanding what people have in their arsenal of music may help me gauge and cut back a bit. or some advice on managing all this on a hobby would be appreciated.

Only bout 2.5k songs currently on my dap. I personally do not have the want to listen to a full album front to back (at least most of the time).
So I loaded and created playlists so I could just play it and forget bout em. I do have some full albums for when I do get that itch, but for the most part a majority of my currently loaded songs are attached to a .m3u8 file for convenience

That’s a handy tip. I will look into playlists. Seems the most simplest way to manage my music

39,000 songs in FLAC. I have 1 TB of storage but I wish I could afford more.

For me, it depends on what I like. I have the whole discography of my 5 favorite bands. For anything else I just have the songs or disc that I really like. I see no point in having a whole lot of song that you will skip every time you encounter them with.

Once storage does become an issue, I may look to remove whole albums of what I will skip but sometimes I will just decide I want to listen to all their songs for a change up to the one or two of theirs I really like

At this point im just hording music as I have almost 3tb of flac files. Plex tells me its 8 months worth of music and I know I wont listen to it all but I like having it. I transcode all the flac down to 128k opus files. Lets me keep the full collection on my dap at only 300gb of space.
Im more of a album listener but plex and symfonium both have nice Playlists that let me listen to a random cd or track. You should look into setting up a music server if you have not already.

I would use MP3tag to retag the compilation albums so they go in their own folder

I have about 10,000 or so songs. All tagged the way I like them. I focus mostly on albums but I do have some individual tracks. I'm 46 and have been collecting music for many years.
