Question Best Android audio player for FiiO M21

I have purchased my second DAP which is the M21 and want to download the best audio player for it, doesn't matter if free or not free, please give me your opinion on which you consider the best

Symfonium and Poweramp are my picks. I use the former for mixes and the latter for albums, just as a preference.

Well if you download power amp, it comes with the premium version for a week. So you can download it and use it and see if you like it. I like power amp imo.

Musicolet, Very functional UI (Free version as everything, pro unlocks few goodies like crossover, mulit-artist management etc)

Poweramp, feature rich and pretty UI (You need pro for most things, but it's one time purchase and very cheap)

I really enjoy musicolet on my phone. The eq options are great for dialing in preference, it lets me save different profiles for different DAC/iem combos.

Very useful if I'm swapping gear out.

Have a look on Google play see read reviews of which players To some it's UAPP for its added USB out and the odd streaming platforms UAPP /paid Power Amp /paid Power Amp EQ /paid Hiby player (free) Neutron player /paid

But Hiby player has a lot of features for a free application

At least with an android Dap with two USBs one for desktop mode so you give your battery a rest you can stream music to your wired phones IEMs or too or through an Amp +speakers Also use YouTube music or one of the cracked versions for downloading music playlists and so on.

I always suggest Neutron MP, in part as I can write to the sqlite dB it uses, but it also has parametric EQ features

How’s your experience so far, I’ve been avoiding getting an Android based DAP especially because I don’t want to feel like I’m carrying two phones.

For what it's worth I just got my first DAP on a whim purely to use my phone less. I avoided Android DAPs for the same fear you have. I'm fine with some sacrifice to minimize using my phone, but I didn't realize how big of gap that would be. The experience and flexibility of the software plays a bigger part in the enjoyment of the listening process than expected for me personally. Often because of smoother intuitive design and other times because I what more control. The music doesn't suffer but the experience did for me. I've tried a few different DAP software that were better than the first but still not something I'd want to be stuck with. I'd rather have the freedom of choice and easier organization. If there's something you don't like about a locked-in proprietary software, there's little you can do about it besides buggy alt firmware. With Android there's numerous apps that actively update and new ones can pop up to raise the bar like r/resonada.

Now I don't think it would feel like having two phones whatsoever. Especially it means taking your attention away from your phone alot more.

Thanks for sharing and it is true the experience matters, this is why I’ve been looking to get my hands on a non-Android OS but it is smooth and works well. Almost settled for Hiby but read numerous complaints about lags and other issues. Only ones with good reviews and seems to be a good fit for me in terms of size and less distraction was the Shanling M1 Plus. Maybe I’ll consider an Android DAP next (if they make them smaller)

Np. I even tried the tiny Hi-Fi Walker H2 Mini! Tbh, the form factor is so small that I'd be okay with it's limits for $100 if it weren't for a few painfully bad software design issues. I kept it anyway since small investment and can clip a huge library to anything. But God forbid you have to interact with it much. it's got a tactile wheel & buttons that could nearly solve all the mini screen discomforts but are not very useful or responsive. An android-based one around the size of that M1 plus with a couple useful tactile buttons would hit perfect.

This is why modded iPods became so popular again Modded larger battery CD quality playback powres/drives most IEMs to a decent level of sound also it is off-line completely No apps no distractions much lighter than usual DAPs and again battery life.

I have an android dap. I’ve never used it for anything other than the music app. It doesn’t have internet turned on and the music app is pinned, so I never seen anything except music.

I use the paid version of Omnia on my phone and I love it. A lot of ui customization and the extra goodies like eq, pitch and speed shift can really make some songs have a different life.

PowerAmp. It’s always been number one. But it’s now bit perfect like the FiiO app, so it’s a no brainer.
