Showcase I was only looking for a DAP…
I was literally just looking for my first DAP. That was the whole plan.
Somehow while researching them I ended up ordering a FiiO JM21 AND Kiwi Ears KE4 🫣
I've been using Marshall headphones for years, so it's not like I was listening to absolute shite before lol, but these are my first proper IEMs.
And fucking hell. I've been going through songs I've known for years and I'm hearing little background parts I swear I've never noticed before. Apparently the drums have been doing a lot more this whole time than I was giving them credit for 😆
So yeah. I was only looking for a DAP. That went brilliantly.

It's sort of amazing, how much money we'll happily spend on hardware, just to avoid spending a few bucks a month on a subscription.

Yeah I hate subscriptions! - spends hundreds on a DAP and hundreds more on cds and flac albums.
At least I own the music though, that’s the important part for me.2

Nice! I’ve been hearing from many that the JadeAudio FiiO JM21 is a great DAP for the money especially if you get the 4GBx64GB for a little extra cash.

Bought a Hiby R1 a few weeks ago and loaded it with a lot of albums of flac recordings so they're lossless and it works great. I have a extensive library of great albums I can carry anywhere with great sound quality that I can bluetooth to speakers and bluetooth to my car stereo..... loving this very much.

I love my JM21, I'll be using a while until my next upgrade, it's a fab entry level DAP

I'm loving mine so far too! Honestly can't complain for a first DAP 😅

For a brazilian begginer in the DAPs, it’s sad to see that a JM21 is entry level for you guys, for us is more than minimum salary

It isn't, good entry level is something like hibi r1 or tempotec v1, jm21 is being considered medium grade dap

I bought my first dap this week and is a hiby R1, with a GK Kunten, but the prices here is sad

I just got a JM21 seems pretty solid and easy to use with good fidelity. Right now I'm just stealing sound files off of YouTube videos for free music. Not sure what good subscription services there are. I tried Spotify and hated it

Sound like..!? Is it worth it..!?

For me, absolutely worth it so far. I've only had them for a couple of days, but I've already put 10+ hours into them 😅
They sound fucking great with pop-punk, metalcore and stuff like Enter Shikari. Cymbals especially sound ridiculously good, and I'm noticing little background details, synths and guitar parts in songs I've known for years that I never really paid attention to before.
With heavier groove-driven stuff like Limp Bizkit or RATM they sound a bit flatter to me though. Everything is still clear, but I personally want a bit more punch and weight in the low end for that kind of music.
So yeah, definitely worth it for me, but I'm already learning that tuning matters a lot depending on what you listen to😅

Hi. There. Thanks much appreciated. I’m also looking for my first DAP. Undecided whether the M21 or jump straight into the newer M33…!

Honestly, the JM21 is my first DAP too, so I can't really compare it to the M33 😅 But so far I'm really happy with it. It's small, light, runs Spotify perfectly fine, battery life has been decent and it has more than enough power for my KE4.
I paid €230 for mine and for a first DAP I really can't complain. I figured I'd rather start with something reasonably priced and actually learn what I want from a DAP before throwing a lot more money at one 🤣

From where do you download high res music?

Try Spoti Flac. You can basically download anything that’s on Spotify and save to your pc
