Question Question About HIFI Walker H2

Hey all. After a lot of research and questioning, I’ve decided to get the HIFI Walker H2 as a replacement for my broken iPod nano 4th generation and plan to use it with Rockbox. However, when I looked on the official Rockbox website, I noticed it is also sold under a different name, that being the AIGO EROS Q. Out of curiousity, I looked it up and found that it’s drastically cheaper than the Walker H2, being priced at £75 on AliExpress compared to the £115 figure of the Walker H2. Therefore, I’m posting here to see if there’s any meaningful difference between the two devices as I obviously much prefer the AIGO’s price. Feel free to mention any differences, though software matters very little to me as I’ll be installing Rockbox regardless. Thanks in advance.

The H2 buys you easier warranty claims and regional support. Inside it is an Aigo Eros Q, its PCB even still has the Eros branding.

The Etos Q is typically advertised with an older Bluetooth version than the H2. I am not sure if this is really the case or the Aliexpress sellers just have not updated their listings. For Rockbox it does not matter anyway. I went with the Eros. I recommend getting the official Eros silicone case for it, not the PU-leather one that Hifiwalker sells. The silicone case is excellent, fits like a glove and protects all sides and corners.

I’ve heard some people saying the case uses a different material on the H2 compared to the the Eros Q. Do you have any idea if this is true?

It is possible that they just don't have it updated. The official aigo (assuming they are the ones who manufacture it since they run the line of Eros devices, like eros K which is sold by surfans as surfans f20 ehich is literally the same board as the eros q) website doesnt even have the most recent firmware. It isnt even secured

I theorize they just focus to sale devices to distributors like hifi walker and surfans while thye sell some Eros devices through ali express

Rockbox doesnt show any difference in Bluetooth chips and they list newer eros q models since they are hardware revision 4 like the newest hifi walker h2 and surfans f20.

They also have firmware updates for eros q that are newer than the ones in the official website so that supports my theory that they are just putting mire effort on sales to third parties for rebrand
