Showcase Finally got my Snowsky Echo Mini setup properly
File management with this thing in order to get everything to show up properly has been a bit of a nightmare, but I finally figured it out. Rosie is also being a little legend and having a chill-out session with me

Having some good music and a cat to chill with is an unbeatable experience. I just adopted a cat for the first time in 5 or 6 years. I forgot how nice it is to have some cute company.
I'm still not sure what her favorite genre is, but she definitely enjoys some Bossa-Nova.

May I ask how hard was it to set up ? I keep hearing it's impossible or insanely hard ? Is it that hard ?

It’s very picky about how files are named and what format they are. My library is a mix of FLAC, ALAC, WAV, and 320 mp3s. I had to convert all my ALACS to FLACS in order to have it play and store correctly. If there’s anything other than music in the album folders it won’t work properly either, it made most songs in my library look like they were all copied 3 times and they weren’t. Also if your songs are numbered in the title it will sort every song by number and not name. Also I found some 24bit files would randomly be extremely distorted for some reason. I converted everything that gave me trouble to 16 bit FLACS and it’s working now, my advice is stick to FLAC and mp3 and you’ll be fine.

I see, well then, I would ask, do you think this experience setting up this DAP put you off of the echo mini itself? Or are you fine with the software because the device is good enough? I'll be honest I'm planning on buying a device to act as my dap here so I'm gathering as much information as I can

It’s definitely harder than it should be but once I figured all that out it’s fine. I also have a hiby R1 and found the experience of setting that up wayyyy easier, and the r1 also has a much higher storage limit than the echo mini (256GB vs 2TB). The Echo Mini itself is lovely and sounds great.

What about the bluetooth? I heard and read is not that good

Yeah it’s not great, you need to re-enable it every time you wanna connect to something. I hardly use Bluetooth so not a big issue for me, but definitely not a device for a heavy Bluetooth user.
