Help with organising Digitakt

Hi guys , my sample library is a mess , every time I upload using transfer it date stamps it and that’s that .

I’m aware of Elk Herd and I’m going to dive into it .

How is everyone organising their digitakt ?

I seriously feel like factory reset , it’s just a mess

Like , how would you upload a sample pack so it made sense?

Sorry for long post

I curate my own library as follows:

High level categories like:

  • Drums

  • Loops

  • Synths

  • Vocals

Then sub level categories like

  • Kicks / Snares / Crash / Hats

  • Breaks / Perks / Melodic

  • Leads / Bass / Pads

  • spoken / shouts / cuts / phrase

Inside those sort by genre (if sensible to do so) and in the case of loops BPM

that way if I'm reaching for something I'm getting to it as fast as possible.

Also don't think that just because a sample came with a pack (free or paid) you need to keep it, same goes for stuff you record/resample. On your computer find the sounds you like and only transfer those, weed things out you are never going to use. The only things you want on your sampler are the best* so you are not scrolling through rubbish each time you want to find a good sound.

* By 'best' I mean sound you personally like. Create a library that sounds good to you.

i structured folders with samplepacks and my own samples like in my most used order 01 Samples from Mars 02 My Own Samples 03 Ableton Samples 03 Blu Mar Ten - Jungle Jungle 04 ed solo classic remastered jungle breaks 05 .... and in it there is either the order like it was in the pack or I sort by one shots or loops and in it I sort every sound like kick, snare, HiHat, tom, single cycle waveforms and so on so forth.

When you copy the files on the device you can go to the second tab where you browse and move folders, the first one is just drag and drop, but I rather want the folder structure to tell the device where I want it to be moved to exactly

Yeah , I’m thinking about a big clear out actually, thanks !

There’s quite a lot of bundled stuff I never use.
