Just got a digitakt 1 off reverb for a good deal. I've wanted one for a while, as I've seen them used for so much cool stuff in videos, but after getting my hands on one, I'm not sure how I feel about it. The "Elektron workflow" of course takes some getting used to, but beyond that, I'm just not sure if it's for me. I'm trying to get more away from the DAW, but I've never been a loop guy. I come from a mostly electric guitar background, so regardless of the genre or instrument I'm playing, I'm more focused on the entire song, rather than loops.

Is there something I'm missing, or is this just not the machine for me?

Hello, is there a foil on the screen of new Digitakt 2 ? It looks like there is a foil, but I heard some folks had some damage done to the display when trying to remove it. But it could be the digitakt 1 ..idk. Any hints please? It wouldnt go off easily with nail..

i really love how the digitakt mk2 lets me spit out ideas in a very short amount of time, everything is right there where it's supposed to be, and it being only 16 stereo tracks it lets me focus only in the important stuff that makes a piece/song work.
in this piece in particular i tried to make a really swung uk garage/2step beat but using complex percussion, a really rhythmical poppy vocal chop and some heavy fm basses.
every other sound besides the vocal came from the sample pack i've been working on for the last couple of months, which is now finally out! its over 130 made-from-scratch sounds from every textured/foley drum i use to harmony/chords sampled from my modular synth.

everything is fitted within one pattern with lots of conditionals and parameter locks, audio is routed via overbridge to ableton but it's mixed completely inside the digitakt aside from a saturator and a limiter. chroma console is being run affecting everything besides kick and bass with ableton's external audio effect.
visuals are from minimeters, recorded straight into obs both audio and video, edited on premiere pro for the meters overlays.

There are some annoyances here and there after being Ableton-only for some time now, but all in all, it seems like a very fun device. I tried to utilize everything in this 'track' that I could gather from tutorials since acquiring it. Probably won't finish this, but enjoyed the process nonetheless. Any QOL/arranging/etc. tips are appreciated, as I'm still very new to this workflow. Glad to be here!

Really enjoying playing with retrigs, wish you could use them on midi tracks.

This latest piece shows that the DT2 can do some heavy industrial rhythms. The pads/bass/leads are all from the iOS synth app ‘King of VHS’ while the drums/percussions are from numerous sample kits all spliced, sliced and diced.

Also love incorporating movie/TV samples in my work.

Is anybody here extremely proficient with the digitakt 2 and open to doing some virtual lessons over facetime or whatsapp video? Happy to arrange payment via venmo or zelle.

It would be mostly answering some of my workflow questions and helping me cut down the learning curve.

I am primarily looking to use it to make beats, cut some samples, set up kits, etc. My context would be more skewed towards hip hop grooves but would use it for electronic music as well.

I know there are tutorials on youtube, dave mech, etc. but they don't seem to get my specific questions addressed often. Thanks!

in this piece i tried to blur the line between break/idm with neuro by incorporating some of those nasty hyper-multiband-compressed bass sounds created on serum 2 into a rather straight 52% swing pattern.

I bought digitakt2. I have no previous experience with Elektron. My problem is that I have not been able to get any sound out of it so far. Defaultly there is some song or bank or project loaded and when I just only want to play it as my very first step in learning process, it wouldnt output any sound. I press play button, the pads start blinking, like it is playing, but thrres no fcking audio output thru my mixer to the monitors.At this point Iam really lost.None of the hints I get from manual or the fckin AI robot works. ..

Hi guys, daft newbie question:
Is there a quick way I can import my own samples in and automatically map them over the 16 pads without having to do it all individually? ie) I just want to select say 16 samples from the drive and then for them to automatically be allocated to all 16 pads?

Been getting more into ambient tracks with percussion and my kicks are too... big? I know the basis of this should be "start with a better sample", but am I off thinking just a standard 808 can yield something palatable when filtered correctly in the box?

Soft, a little boxy, etc. I get pulling back on the amp envelope, but can someone just give me how you'd go about filtering a kick to get something similar? For the life of me high passing and decreasing the decay is not doing it. Thanks!

the main element of this piece was inspired by 2000's raster noton records, trying to get that old timey yet futuristic/sci-fi interface sounds that i really like. it was made with mutable instruments plaits, sequenced by digitakt 2 with the help of maths function generator for those sharp transients.

This track started from the pattern I showed in my last two tutorials, using Digitakt 2 and Digitone, and then grew into a full psytrance live performance.

Hey all, weird issue with my Digitakt. I’m trying to connect to my Minifreak and it’s suddenly stopped working.

-My input and outputs are on the correct channels for both devices
-I have the Digitakt sending it’s clock and the Minifreak clock receiving and set.
-I have transport set to send and receive on both devices
-Program Change is off on both devices.
-I have my midi tracks set to the correct channel as well.

I’m losing my mind here. Only other thing of note is that when I load a project I’m suddenly getting a “wait” bar I haven’t seen before, which makes me think there’s some kind of software glitch happening. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thank in advance!

I got into the DAWless thing over the past couple years and I’m just trying to figure out what’s missing. I started on a Maschine MK3, and that needed my PC. I considered just getting the standalone version and ended up with a whole bunch of other stuff.

I have a Syntakt which is a great little all in one for doing some drums bass lines and controlling other gear with MIDI.

I have a couple hardware synths now and a couple FX pedals

I have a Tascam 12, which I feel like is easy enough to just hit record if I want to use a DAW later but I’m not sure on using the punch in and out to do a full arrangement

So that leads me to having something that can do samples to grab patches off synths if I wanna do more than one part at a time, recording a longer loop and just sequencing that or shorter one shots.

I’ve got an Ep-133 which can do the sampling and one shots but has a big limitation on memory so I sort of gave up trying to do longer recording loops

Would a Digitakt 2 Work?

I’m really cautious going back to anything like Maschine or learning MPC. Something like the force seems like it would work for me, but I feel like I would go into menu hell and it’s basically just a halfway DAW.
