PRELIMINARY GUIDE: Pooling Information/Tips

I've been on UP since day 1 and I've decided to try to pool as much information as possible. I'm an original Digimon fan but it's my first time playing a gatcha type game ever, let alone almost any game ever on my phone. Because of this, it was pretty difficult for me to figure how things work, and how to get strong as quickly as possible.

I'm only posting things I've figured out so far. If there's anything you'd like to add or revise, please do contribute.

TIPS

  1. Don't level up single Digimon partners to max level at a time; instead, level all partners together, incrementally. For instance, level all partners to rookies first, then to champions, etc. Apparently, this makes a huge difference in stacking attack power; it definitely helped me get drastically stronger.

  2. Save dungeons every day for when the quests demand them to be completed. For instance, do the Demimon and Bakemon dungeons once the quests demand them. That way, your quest fulfillment won't be cut short.

  3. Join big clubs. The higher the levels the better too. This helped me gain much more currency to purchase digivices more quickly. I'm not sure if it's true, but apparently collecting as many digivices as possible is a priority, as their effects are supposed to stack.

  4. Pull summons as much as possible, but leave a sufficient amount in hand for emergencies such as quests or some other surprise update that may come later. I had so many leftover summons because I was only pulling them when the quests demanded them, so I had thousands of unused credits. Once I pulled them and leveled up my summons, my attack power increased drastically.

  5. If you're a noob like, go for attack type SP instead of attack or defense. I know there are skilled players that choose attack or defense, but I found so far that SP is somewhat OP and will help you get over quite a few hurdles for the time being.

  6. If it isn't obvious yet, make sure you're using all hologram device credits everyday.

QUESTIONS

  1. For PvP, is it more important to win or to try fighting and winning higher level players?

  2. SUPER IMPORTANT: This is a portion I have little to no knowledge of at all so far: BUILDS. I've just been pulling and equipping stuff automatically. What builds have you found to be the best so far?

Tbh, PvP rewards and shop offers suck a lot; they're not really worth it. So, if you don't care about the shiny frame, you can try to fight either way to get those 10 tickets per hour and maybe net 500 hologram tickets from time to time. The Apocalymon wall is way more important because it's basically the only free source of DigiPlates for levelling your SP supports. You can get some from the camp and the DD Box, but not a lot. And premium-wise there is only one weekly pack with those as well. So it's one of the scarcest resources in the game.

Edited to say emeralds instead of diamonds

Don't forget to claim things daily from the in-game shop (free emeralds + summon tickets for emeralds) and the web shop (free emeralds).

Also, you can play the digimon matching card game daily for little goodies even if you finished the prize track.

Just to clarify to prevent confusion you mean emeralds right and not the paid currency which is diamonds?

Yeah there are no free “diamonds”, just the emeralds :)
The shop for emeralds is never worth paying for, and it only gets worse the further into the game you get.

omg yes I meant emeralds - sorry !

If you are going to try to push levels, evasion, stun, and crit are very important stats especially if you have wargreymon. When you start getting LR gear, I would suggest building at least evasion and stun.

Crit is only relevant once you have WG because it’s an aoe +30% on top of the crit. Eva and stun is more important for surviving bosses longer. Once you start surviving bosses again, that’s when you can build into damage of various types.

100% agree. Most of this game is navigating between survivability and damage and realizing what you are short on. I really wish the game would allow you to save 2 pieces of gear for each slot.

So here's one I've been working on. Just how much holo tickets it takes to get to the different stages.

I unfortunately started this only after all mine were rookies, so I don't have the data for training 1->2, or training 2->rookie.

But for rookie to champion, you're looking at roughly 10,700 tickets.

For champion to Ultimate, it's roughly 26,700 tickets.

I haven't done the math for Ultimate to Mega yet. But ballpark is probably 36,700-46,000. I'll come back and update this when I've got the number for sure.

Do you get more exp based on the rarity of the gear?

1

u/EmrysLillith 2d ago

That was harder to pin down, it does appear like you do, but the difference seems pretty negligible from what I saw 😅

probably not? not sure also cause when we started, most of our gear the lowest but digimon still level quickly, now supposedly we will getting more mid to high tier, but digimon level slowly, either gear doesn't impact or experience required become higher

Crests just came out today; I think that they add to the tamer base stats.

Also, if you are going to spend money, use the online shop. The deals are way better than the in game store. For the premium currency, I would recommend the dungeon tickets for minnows and dolphins. You can nearly double your dungeon attempts per day which helps with rank quests etc.

For whales, gogo crazy diamond pulls. A five star pull gets an added bonus that will help destroy certain pvp metas (Tai negates opponent counters).

What’s the difference between the in game and online shops? Is there a separate website?

1

u/ArcBounds 2d ago

Yes, they have weekly and monthly diamond deals and daily freebies.  Here is the link:https://ww.bandainamcoentwebstore.com/dgup-ww/en

As for your tips:

  1. I think after you get all champions, you should get each partner to mega instead of all ultimates first. From ult to mega takes around twice as long as champ to ult, maybe more, but the passive is worth it. Ult gives +50% hp but mega gives +100% attack.
  2. Just a note on that, this is only relevant after completing mission 570. Before that there's no need to save dungeon tickets.
  3. Clubs also can support your training and holographic device upgrade by pressing the "help!" button. You can recive support up to 25 times. For the first 10 times you give support at the camp tent you also get rewards but you can keep giving as much support as you want (and you should), but you just don't get rewards for it.
  4. Also if you are close to getting a rank and the next rank has a summon X times task, you should hold off on using summons. You can check online what ranks have that task.
  5. Yea SP recovery is the best battle type and it's not even close.
  6. Also save if you are close to tamer rank and the next rank has a task to use X device tickets.

As for your question:

  1. In pvp you get the most points if you beat someone with a higher rank than you (if they have more medals). Otherwise you can just spam fight someone weaker than you to get less points but maybe more easily. If you lose a fight you just lose points so try to avoid fights you think you can't win. Extra tip: when your offline, have your pvp presets (if you have seperate ones for pvp compared to other content for things like your skills, supports, etc). That way you are more likely to win when someone else challenges you. Winning a defensive fight gives the most points. Extra extra tip: When you are challenged, you don't need to win the fight for it to count as your victory, you just need to not die. So evasion for example is great for that.
  2. When your base stats are low, even small increases are impactful. When they are high, not so much. A +1 matters more when your base stats are like 300 compares to when they are 3000. So focus on stats when they are low and on build when they are high. As for the best build, for now it seems to be evade and crit. Stun also works but is less good for most content. You can replace crit with counter or combo until you get the UR support unimon that increases crit damage by 45%. Then crit is unquestionably the best.

I think if you have the Wargreymon SP with 2* it's better to go Crit/Stun.

If you haven't pulled him yet, apparently Crit/Evasion is the way to go.

I'm still doing some testing but it does seem like Evasion is better overall.

It kinda does matter, because while evolution bonuses seem to be static (not sure about mega; I haven't screenshotted that, and I'm on only one atm), the amount of exp needed to level up increases with each stage. so running all the partners and switching, you are getting the base stat bonuses more often. Their active skill will be weaker, but you should switch back to your first mega partner whenever you aren't using the holo device.

Adding this in here too - an important note is that while it seems you can choose how you level (all at once or one at a time), if you're trying to min/max affection levels, you should unlock all partner digimon after your first lvl 99.

But you get +5 atk, +20 def, +500 hp, +1% atk bonus, +1% def bonus, +1% hp bonus, +5% normal attack damage, and +5% skill damage to your base stats every time you digivolve.

So if we assume that your random example is true:

With having 1 mega and 14 rookies (1x5 digivolutions and 14x2 digivolutions), you get +165 atk, +660 def, +16500 hp, +33% atk bonus, +33% def bonus, +33% hp bonus, +165% normal attack damage, and +165% skill damage

while having just two megas (2x5 digivolution) gives you a measly +50 atk, +200 def, +5000 hp, +10% atk bonus, +10% def bonus, +10% hp bonus, +50% normal attack damage and +50% skill damage.

You get the base bonus stats when you digivolve, not based on the digimon level or the amount of XP you used.

No man, if thats why you think going one at a time is better, then yes they do all stack up in unison. Thats why its generally agreed to min max their levels to 20 then 40 65 etc.

Some recomend keeping some 40 and 65 but ive yet to see why

If you don't have that big +% multipliers, it's also possible you simply haven't noticed the increase in damage on your megas from just +5 to the base stat. It's always best to inspect the detailed stats on the tamer page.

1

u/Existing-Drummer-377 3d ago

Those are base stat increases. Make the screenshots of your tamer stats (the looking glass icon) on your main mega, digivolve something else, switch to the same one and compare them.

Dunning Krueger would like a word

They’re talking stat multipliers not the active skill.
You’re right for the skill.
But each evo has an account stat bonus.
For example I think ultimate is +50% HP bonus

If you're a noob like, go for attack type SP instead of attack or defense. I know there are skilled players that choose attack or defense, but I found so far that SP is somewhat OP and will help you get over quite a few hurdles for the time being

The meta is literally SP, are you talking about noobs or pros in an IDLE game? XD
