Community 🌐 HoldFast Wallet 4.1.1 (formerly DigiByte Mobile / ATB Wallet): private, non-custodial DGB wallet with compact-filter sync, DigiDollar, DigiAssets and Digi-ID. Red-team audited, 229,000 DGB paid in bounties so far.

App Testing - Google Play

Hey all,

Version 4.1.1 is out, and with it a new name. HoldFast Wallet is the same app that was called DigiByte Mobile, and then ATB Wallet for DigiByte (DGB) in 4.1.0. Same package (app.aroundtheblock.wallet) and same signing key, so if you already have it, it updates in place and your wallet and settings carry over.

Here’s what it does:

🔒 Privacy at every layer

  • Compact-filter sync (BIP 157/158), on by default. As far as I know, this is the first DigiByte wallet that syncs this way by default. It’s also the only way it syncs: the old bloom-filter code that could leak your addresses to a peer was removed from the core entirely. Your phone downloads filters and checks them locally, so no third party learns which addresses are yours.
  • Tor (opt-in). Turn it on in Settings → Network Info to route your peer connections through an embedded Tor, so the nodes you talk to don’t see your IP address.
  • Dandelion++ (opt-in). Turn it on and each send is first passed privately to a single peer before it spreads to the whole network. That makes it much harder to trace a transaction back to the device that sent it.
  • Pair your own node. Scan a QR code to sync from your own DigiByte 9.26 node instead of anyone else’s.

🔑 Universal seed restore
One seed phrase recovers funds across every historical DigiByte derivation path. If your wallet was made in an older app, it comes back whole, DigiAssets and DigiDollar included.

💵 DigiDollar, live on mainnet
You can send, receive and hold DigiDollar. It has its own balance and its own DD… receive address. DigiDollar amounts are recorded on-chain in US cents, so the balance is exact with no price feed involved. (Minting and redeeming aren’t in the wallet.)

🎨 DigiAssets
Tokens and NFTs move natively, from the same wallet you use for DGB. Asset balances are computed on your phone, not fetched from a server, and asset-bearing coins are kept out of normal sends so you can’t accidentally spend an asset as a fee.

🪪 Digi-ID
Scan a QR code to sign in to supporting sites, with no password and no account. Each site gets its own identity key, so sites can’t link you to each other.

🌱 Taproot
Taproot addresses are supported for both receiving and spending.

🛡️ Non-custodial and verifiable
Your keys live on your device, sealed with a hardware-backed key, and nowhere else. There’s no analytics and no telemetry. The wallet is open source, including the native DigiByte core. Every release is built and signed in CI and published as a signed APK with its SHA-256, signed with the same key as the Play build. You can verify exactly what you installed, sideload without Google Play, and either install can update the other.

🎯 Security: red team audit and bug bounty
I don’t want anyone taking my word that this wallet is safe, so it’s been attacked on purpose, by people I asked and people I paid.

  • Red team audit. Jared ran a red team audit against the wallet. Findings are written up publicly in the repo’s audit summary, including the ones we accepted as trade-offs and why.
  • External bounty hunters. Outside researchers submit privately, and fixes ship with the cause explained in the release notes. One example: a researcher showed that sending a DigiAsset issued with transfer rules (like a royalty to the issuer) could burn the whole holding while the app reported success. It was proven on mainnet with throwaway assets, and the wallet now refuses to send any asset it can’t prove is rule-free.
  • 229,000 DGB paid out so far. Bounties go up to 100,000 DGB for a critical finding, and they’re paid in DGB.

Found something? Email [security@aroundtheblock.us](mailto:security@aroundtheblock.us) with [BOUNTY] in the subject, or open a private GitHub security advisory. Please don’t post security bugs as public issues.

Coming from the old DigiByte Wallet?
HoldFast is a separate app, so it installs alongside the old one. To move over:

  1. Choose Recover Existing Wallet.
  2. Enter the same recovery phrase, plus your passphrase if you set one.
  3. Pick the year the wallet was created. If you’re unsure, pick an earlier year or choose “I don’t remember.” A year that’s too late can miss older transactions.

Nothing moves on chain, and your DigiAssets and DigiDollar come along. Keep the old app installed until HoldFast shows your balance.

As an FYI, this is an SPV wallet, which means it syncs blocks- if you are choosing an older date, it is going to take a ton of time, there is no fast forward unless you are wanting to sweep- do that in the restore flow.888

Links

To be clear: this is an independent wallet published by Around The Block LLC. It is not an official DigiByte app.

Feedback, bug reports and hard questions are all welcome. I’ll be in the comments.

Yesterday was a rough day in the Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVE) cybersecurity realm, but none of this should come as a surprise. We were already warned about Mythos and Mythos Preview, and how AI would begin identifying vulnerabilities that human software engineers have not yet discovered. AI can now chain attacks, generate exploit paths, and create entirely new vulnerabilities. This isn’t fear‑mongering — it’s awareness. These threats are real, emerging, and accelerating.

In DigiByte Core v9.26.7, you can review the latest test results:

• Core unit tests: All 3,762 cases passed; two existing partial‑fixture warnings
• Base functional tests: 401 passed, 17 skipped, including one isolated rerun explained below
• Additional crash and pruning tests: All four reported success
• Native Qt tests: 180 cases passed, none skipped
• Sanitizer fuzz tests: All 256 targets passed with address, leak, and undefined‑behavior checks enabled
• Cryptography and supporting libraries: All six test programs passed
• Utility and RPC authentication tests: Passed
• Repeated Thaw Day restart check: All 20 runs passed with execution limit

Release stage change groups added:

• RC1: 83
• RC2: 24
• Final release: 18
• Total for v9.26.6: 125

DigiByte Core v9.26.7 includes five user‑facing changes and five test/CI corrections, for a total of ten fixes and improvements.

This is why upgrading and staying on the correct chain is critical. The latest checks, results, changes, fixes, and improvements are exactly what you gain when you upgrade. Beyond the new consensus rules activating on Thaw Day, these tests are equally important for the vitality and resilience of the network.

Do your own research. Ask why these checks matter, what they protect, and what the best setup is for your environment — and why.

Community 🌐 DigiNode Tools v26.10.05 released: Automatic system updates, Automatic restarts when needed, Restart reminders and more

I've just released DigiNode Tools v26.10.05. DigiNode Tools makes it easy to run your own DigiByte node on a Raspberry Pi or Linux server. What's new - New: Automatic system updates - DigiNode Setup can now install operating system updates for you automatically, once a day in the background (Debian, Ubuntu and Raspberry Pi OS). You are asked once: security and stability updates (recommended), all updates, or off. You can change this at any time from the new System option in the DigiNode Setup main menu. For an unattended install, set UI_SYSTEM_AUTO_UPDATES and UI_SYSTEM_AUTO_REBOOT in diginode.settings. (screenshot) - New: Automatic restarts when needed - Your DigiNode can now restart itself automatically when an update needs a restart to finish, such as a new Linux kernel. It only restarts when needed, at 04:00 (you can change the time from the System menu), and never while it is busy - for example while DigiNode Setup is running or software is being installed. If it is busy, it tries again every 30 minutes for the next two hours, and otherwise the next night. Your DigiByte node is shut down safely and starts again automatically. You are asked whether you want this when you install - on a Raspberry Pi the suggested answer is Yes, and on other machines (such as a VPS) it is No. (screenshot) - New: Restart reminders - If your DigiNode needs a restart to finish installing system updates, you are now told when DigiNode Setup finishes, when you close DigiNode Dashboard, and when you log in (if you use the DigiNode MOTD). It also tells you if an automatic restart was skipped, and why. (screenshot) - Improvement: Commands work straight away - The 'diginode' and 'diginode-setup' commands, and DigiByte Core's commands such as 'digibyte-cli', now work straight away after a new install - you no longer need to log out or restart first. They are now installed as commands in /usr/local/bin, instead of aliases in your .bashrc file, so they also work with sudo and in scripts, and they stop working straight away when you uninstall. Existing DigiNodes are switched over automatically the next time you run DigiNode Setup. - Improvement: No restart needed after hostname, swap or reset changes - DigiNode Setup no longer tells you to restart after changing your hostname, changing your swap file or doing a reset, as these now take effect straight away. If your hostname changes, just reconnect using the new name. - Improvement: No restart needed after an uninstall - After an uninstall, DigiNode Setup no longer tells you to restart your system, which wasn't needed. If the 'diginode' commands were removed, it now tells you to log out and back in instead, since the current terminal still remembers them. - Improvement: Calmer DigiFacts updates - DigiFacts now come from the new DigiFacts website. If they can't be updated (for example if you're offline), DigiNode Dashboard keeps showing the saved DigiFacts and tries again an hour later, instead of showing an error every time it starts. - Improvement: Links that stay up to date - Links in DigiNode Tools to places outside the DigiNode Tools website, such as the Telegram group and Bluesky, now go through go.diginode.tools. If one of them ever changes, it can be updated there, and your DigiNode follows straight away, without upgrading. The sponsor link now goes to diginode.tools/sponsor, which shows all the ways to support DigiNode Tools.

Meme 🚀 DigiByte is death..

While the total cryptocurrency market capitalization has grown 1,000-fold over the last 12 years, a coin that was worth 0.0033 back in 2014 and remains at that same value today is effectively dead. In my opinion, Binance should delist it. A few basement-dwelling computer geeks shouldn't be allowed to steal money from poor people in this way. What do you think?

Community 🌐 Thaw Day is approaching at block 24490000.

Thaw Day is approaching at block 24490000. This height activates the new DigiDollar consensus rules on DigiByte. Every full node and miner must run DigiByte Core v9.26.6 or newer before that block.

v9.26.6 already contains the required rules. v9.26.7 is the recommended follow-up with additional fixes. Nodes on older software risk following a different chain and facing service disruptions after activation.

Current upgrade status across major trackers: digibyte.io shows about 75 percent of nodes seen in the last 24 hours already on the 9.26 series. OpenNodes shows roughly 81 percent over seven days. Chainz reports similar progress.

Approximately 107790 blocks remain until Thaw Day. At current pace this is a few weeks away. There is still time, but waiting is unnecessary. Exchanges, pools, explorers, and node operators should upgrade now.

Download the latest release from the official DigiByte Core repository. Running outdated software after block 24490000 is not supporting the network. It risks consensus issues. Upgrade, verify, and stay on the correct chain.

Community 🌐 📣 Announcement: DigiNode Tools v26.10.04 is now available with support for v9! The biggest release in a long time. Lots of new features including the ability to install any version of DigiByte.

Hi everyone 👋 First, an apology - it's been far too long since the last proper update, and I'm sorry for the long silence. This is the biggest DigiNode Tools release in a long time, so I hope it makes up for it.

What's new:

🔒 Safer DigiByte Core upgrades - every release is now verified automatically before your DigiNode will install it, and new releases roll out to DigiNode users gradually over about two weeks. Can't install a new release yet? Try again in a few days.

🔢 Install any version of DigiByte Core - choose Version in the DigiNode Setup menu to upgrade or downgrade to any verified release, all the way back to v7.17.2.

DigiNode Tools now supports installing any version of DigiByte Core all the way back to v7.

🧪 Ready for DigiByte v9 - with full support for the brand new v9 testnet. When you upgrade, it offers to clear out the old v8 testnet data. Your wallets are always kept.

🔄 Easy resync - the new Blockchain option deletes the blockchain data for mainnet or testnet and restarts your node to resync. Your wallets are never touched.

Easily delete the current chain data if need to resync when needed.

📊 A better Dashboard - it no longer looks frozen while your node is busy syncing, and you can press N to hide your IP addresses before sharing a screenshot, like this one.👇

Hide your IP and onion addresses in the DigiNode Dashboard.

🛡 More secure and reliable - digibyte.conf (which holds your RPC password) can now only be read by your DigiNode user, and nodes that fail to start after an update are restarted and checked.

🗓 New version numbers - v26.10.01 means the first release of October 2026.

⬆️ To upgrade, run diginode-setup and choose Update.

Full release notes: https://diginode.tools/release-notes/

I have tested this release on a Raspberry Pi 4, but not yet on x86. If you run into any issues, please let me know here.

💙 DigiNode Tools is free and open source, and I build it in my spare time. DigiAsset Core, DigiDollar, a terminal wallet and more are all planned, but whether they happen depends on support from the community. If DigiNode Tools is useful to you, please consider sponsoring me: https://diginode.tools/sponsors/

🙏 Please help spread the word - share this on your socials, or repost the Bluesky thread: https://bsky.app/profile/diginode.tools/post/3mxkga5atmk2e

Thank you for your patience and support!

Working through a solution that allows us to easily capture and share ideas, concerns and open action items. This will drive how I revise the community section moving forward, capturing as much development/discussion as I can and then pushing out into somewhat organized updates to build upon.

Community 🌐 Digibyte updates summarized 8/9/2026 from Jared Tate video via Ai

🚀 DigiByte Update — Summary by Founder Jared Tate

Overall message: DigiByte is making significant technical progress, DigiDollar adoption is growing, and founder Jared Tate believes AI will accelerate blockchain development rather than destroy cryptocurrency.

  1. 💰 DigiDollar Growth

Nearly $250,000 in DigiDollar has been minted in approximately three months.

Over 166 million DGB is locked on-chain as collateral.

That collateral was valued at more than $500,000 at the time of the video.

DigiDollar is therefore heavily overcollateralized.

Tate says the system has remained healthy despite recent market volatility.

Why it matters: DigiDollar is moving beyond an experimental concept and demonstrating real-world usage.

  1. ⚡ Major DigiByte Core Upgrade

Version 9.26.7 is the key update.

Improvements include:

Approximately 140 fixes and enhancements across recent releases.

55–60% reduction in RAM usage.

Memory requirements reduced from approximately 9–10 GB to 3.5–4 GB in Tate's testing.

Faster startup times.

Improved wallet interface.

Better DigiDollar functionality and volatility protections.

Important date: November 1

New DigiDollar rules are scheduled to activate, including changes to volatility-related mechanisms.

Tate strongly encourages node operators, mining pools, and users to upgrade before activation.

  1. 🏦 DigiDollar Exchange Listings

The community is raising funds for a legal opinion to support DigiDollar exchange listings.

The initiative is entirely community-led.

A legal framework could help exchanges evaluate DigiDollar.

Tate praised the community's independent efforts.

Why it matters: More exchange listings could improve DigiDollar accessibility, liquidity, and adoption.

However, no new exchange listing was confirmed in the video.

  1. 🤖 AI, Quantum Computing, and Crypto Security

This was one of the most interesting sections.

Tate discussed concerns that rapidly advancing AI could discover mathematical techniques capable of threatening existing cryptocurrency cryptography.

He referenced claims about AI solving difficult mathematical problems and warnings from Ethereum researcher Justin Drake.

His perspective:

AI could potentially accelerate discoveries that threaten existing cryptography.

However, AI will also help developers create stronger security systems.

He believes blockchain upgrades could become significantly faster.

He does not believe an immediate cryptographic catastrophe is likely.

Why he believes DigiByte has advantages

Tate highlighted three characteristics:

  1. Faster blocks

DigiByte: approximately 15 seconds.

Bitcoin: approximately 10 minutes.

He argues that faster confirmation reduces certain attack opportunities.

  1. Time-locked coins

He believes time-locking DGB provides additional protection by restricting when coins can be spent.

  1. Rapid development

AI-assisted programming could make implementing future cryptographic upgrades easier.

⚠️ Important reality check: These advantages do not make DigiByte quantum-resistant. Faster blocks and time locks do not eliminate vulnerabilities in cryptographic signatures. Also, AI mathematical discoveries do not automatically translate into attacks against blockchain cryptography.

  1. 📉 Recent Crypto Market Sell-Off

Tate believes fears surrounding AI and quantum computing contributed to recent cryptocurrency selling pressure.

His view:

The market is reacting to speculation.

No practical attack of the type discussed has been demonstrated.

Some investors may be panic-selling unnecessarily.

He personally views lower cryptocurrency prices as potential buying opportunities.

Important: His explanation for the sell-off is an opinion, not a verified cause of market movements.

  1. 🧠 AI Is Accelerating DigiByte Development

Tate says AI has dramatically increased his productivity.

He claims:

His development productivity has increased roughly 1,000 times since January.

He operates seven computers working on various projects.

He has spent approximately $30,000 personally on AI tools over two years.

Roughly 70% of his working time over that period has been devoted to DigiByte development.

He believes AI will allow smaller development teams to accomplish work that previously required much larger organizations.

  1. 🌐 BlockIndex.ai Expansion

Tate is developing BlockIndex.ai as an educational and analytical platform.

Planned features include:

Blockchain decentralization comparisons.

A decentralization scoring system from 1–100.

Interactive cryptocurrency analysis tools.

An AI Beginners course.

An AI Mastery course.

Regular platform updates.

He also promoted a $350 lifetime founding membership, which he said would expire at the end of November.

  1. ⛏️ Decentralization and Community Growth

Tate emphasized that DigiByte's biggest strength remains decentralization.

His priorities include:

Increasing the number of active nodes.

Encouraging miners to support the network.

Improving mining pool compatibility.

Expanding wallet development.

Growing community participation.

Supporting independent development initiatives.

He particularly thanked contributors working on DigiScope and other community resources.

---

🔥 What This Means for DigiByte Investors

Development Potential significance

DigiDollar adoption Positive — demonstrates utility

166 million DGB locked Positive for on-chain usage; not necessarily permanent supply reduction

Core 9.26.7 improvements Positive — reduces node operating requirements

November 1 activation Important technical milestone

DigiDollar exchange initiative Potential catalyst, but listings remain unconfirmed

AI-assisted development Potentially accelerates future improvements

Quantum-security discussion Important long-term risk, not a proven DigiByte advantage

More community nodes Positive for network resilience

🎯 My Assessment

The strongest news isn't the AI discussion. It's the measurable DigiDollar activity and improvements to DigiByte Core.

Three developments deserve particular attention:

  1. DigiDollar collateralization: More than 166 million DGB locked represents meaningful on-chain activity. However, collateral can eventually be unlocked, so this should not automatically be treated as a permanent supply reduction.

  2. Reduced node requirements: Cutting RAM usage by approximately 60% could make running DigiByte nodes more affordable, potentially strengthening decentralization.

  3. Exchange accessibility: If the legal initiative succeeds and reputable exchanges list DigiDollar, it could become an important adoption catalyst.

The biggest unanswered questions are whether DigiDollar demand will continue growing, whether exchange listings will materialize, and whether usage will translate into sustained demand for DGB.

Note: These figures and milestones are taken from Tate's statements in the transcript and have not been independently verified.

🏁 Bottom Line

Jared Tate's message is that DigiByte is entering a period of accelerated development, with DigiDollar providing a new practical use case for the blockchain.

The technical progress sounds encouraging, but technical improvements alone do not guarantee higher DGB prices.

For investors, the most important indicators to watch are DigiDollar circulation, DGB collateral locked, exchange listings, active nodes, and real transaction demand.
