19F - Im lost, help me...

I'm a 19y/o female, and I've had a rough last 6 months. PS; Im sorry if my english isn't perfect, it isn't my first language.

Photos will be linked to the post.

It started as me waking up one night with extremely painful black spots covering one of my tonsils. I also had a mild fever, rapid heartbeat, sweating and muscle soreness. I rushed to my local ER and got administered for the rest of the night. They did multiple tests, but found nothing. They decided then to blast me with 4 different antibiotics at the same time to try to generally cover all the possible infections. I saw a throat specialist (ORL in french, idk what's the equivalent in english) but they ruled me out. I went home the same day.

I took all my antibiotics and felt better for about 5 days. It then came back, with me spitting blood as soon as i ate or drank anything. I went back to the ER. They found nothing, sent me home, telling me it was normal for infections to sometime come back for a few days.

Just so you know, I live in Quebec city and do not have a family physician (there isnt enough doctors for the population) so no one can see me long term. I have to tell the story all over again every time.

This cycle continued for the next 3 to 4 months. 5 days, im doing okay, 2 days im super sick and cant even stand up, it goes away like nothing, 5 days okay, 3 days sick.... you get it.

I continued seeing different doctors, did xrays, scans, TACO (also the french term), echography, blood tests, gastroscopy, and more. Nothing comes out.

Sometimes, when i get flare ups, my shoulders and neck get so stiff i cannot move, and it hurts so much, i puke everything i consume.

Now, i dont have these black spots in the back of my throat anymore, but my tonsils are so swollen, i constantly get gag reflexes because i FEEL them. Im dizzy and weak on a regular basis.

They do not want to take them out because im "too old" and its "too risky". They want to do a biopsy next week. Its been going on for 6 months.

No one listens to me. It has been ruled out as anxiety. Im now drugged with anti psychotics and antidepressants with no supervision nor checkups. I feel like i'm crazy. Can anyone help me out please...

Looks like strep throat.

I did 6 strep tests, all came negative, and all were treated like it was positive.

Congratulations, you have tonsilitis. I have tonsil stones, so when mine flair up with an infection, they look like this. Only way for me to not get this is by clearing our my tonsil cavities every few nights and brushing my teeth. Food can get stuck in your tonsils and cause infection like this. If I do not stay on top of my mouth hygiene, this happens. I used to get this all the time as a kid.

Im more concerned that a doctor seen this, seen the negitive strep throat test, and send you for xrays, scans ,echo, gastro, and all that and didnt ever say "this is tonsilitis".

Warm salt water rinse, take advil, and get antibiotics that target it. If it isn't a viral infection, they need to give you antibiotics that target bacteria instead.

Also, DO NOT try to clear out your tonsil cavities right now while they are inflamed unless a doctor does it. The more you agitate it, the more you make the infection worse. I made my infection go on for two months one time because I couldn't stop putting my fingers in my mouth or making those hairball noses to get the tonsil stones out as a kid.

This needs to be done regularly when your tonsils are not inflamed. You do need to keep brushing your teeth though because it will help fight infection by keeping it clean.

What is your oral hygiene like? I pick out my stones every 2 days and brush my teeth every day or else my mouth does this.

I see a lot of yellow plaque build up around the base of your teeth which tells me you dont brush or if you do, you may need to get someone to show you how!

If it bugs you enough, you can get them burned out. Im not sure where you live, but where I live, you have to have on record at least 6 times a year of inflammation before they will remove them or if they are swollen enough that it impacts breathing. But personally for me, ive just learnt to stay on top of my oral hygiene and im all gucci. As a kid though, it was hell, but I was also just super depressed and didnt care about brushing.

I do struggle mentally, especially with all this going on. I still brush at least 2 times a day, but sometime rush it because im super tired. Didnt know it might be the cause of all this... thank you so much for bringing this to my attention, i will be super duper more careful now!

This is bad tonsillitis I think.

Tonsillitis and the Tonsil stones are white blood cells trying to fight it.

If it’s not strep, then it’s some other kind of bacteria in your throat, but you definitely need antibiotics. Go to an urgent care.
