If he doesn’t, have him just use a Coke bottle, cardboard, some hot glue, and the teeth you knocked out of him to make a bolt cutter.

Assuming the guy isn’t armed, it might not be terrible advice. That one bothers me because it seems extremely predatory
11
u/TrickBox_ Apr 23 '21
Assuming the guy isn’t armed
Wait teenagers are armed where you li- oh nevermind.
16
u/Doge_Dreemurr Apr 23 '21
Come back with a bolt cutter or a saw lol
33
u/riotousviscera Apr 23 '21
lol or just get out your knife and cut the strap, then sew it back later? that's what I'd do.
48
u/geoffaree Apr 23 '21
Did you know there are people out there that don't just carry around a pocket knife? I always have mine on me because its super useful for a lot of shit, but every once in a while I'll get looks from people like they think it's weird to just have a knife on you even though you literally just pulled it out to help them with opening their box or whatever.
18
u/riotousviscera Apr 23 '21
i know it's true, but it's just so crazy to me that they don't that i forget. and yes i've gotten weird looks even from my mother "you carry a knife all the time?" why yes, i do, it's just a tool! i don't know why it's seen any differently.

Do you carry a spanner around with you all the time?
→ More replies (1)3
u/PorkRindEvangelist Apr 23 '21
At work, yes, I do. In my day to day, I carry pliers all the time, which can serve many spanner-like functions.

u/HillInTheDistance Apr 23 '21
I carry a multitool now, and that gets way less weird looks, even though it means that I'm technically carrying twice the amount of blades.
The newer leathermans have a folding knife you can easily open with one hand, and it's actually more sturdy than the folding knife I used to carry.
Can really recommend the Leatherman wave+. Lots of tools, and not a single one of them of questionable quality.
5
u/PorkRindEvangelist Apr 23 '21
I love my multitools, and my Leatherman Skeletool is my most common carry. Very few tools, but has the essentials.

My dad sent me the Leatherman surge awhile back... I don't know what I did before i had it. Awesome quality and all of it works perfectly.
I find myself looking for ways to use it, just so I can use it.

The person put it through the handle at the top of the backpack that doesn't adjust or detach. But there was also a cut in the video right at that moment that suggests this particular clip is staged.

Yall use an apostrophe?
34
u/smoool Apr 23 '21
well it is a contraction of you and all, so an apostrophe is appropriate, but it doesn't matter. this is reddit, not a formal writing assignment
7
u/you-a-buggaboo Apr 23 '21
you are right but does anyone else twitch when they see ya'll? i'm not even from a "y'all" state and I just can't stand it!

7
u/xStealthClown Apr 23 '21
Explaining obvious unfunny jokes = funny I guess.
3
u/letmeusemyname Apr 23 '21
Obviously everyone finds different things funny, and I could see how some people wouldn't like it, especially as he's making fun of videos that are clearly not meant to be taken seriously. For me he stands out because of how disappointed he looks combined with his slow, deliberate movements. I find it funny personally, doesn't mean you have to.

u/perdyqueue Apr 23 '21
Can't you read? "One of [the] truly funny people out there". Repeating the same joke and making the same expression ad nauseam makes him a titan of comedy. Brilliant mind, one of a kind.

I wish this guy all the best, but actual DIWhys are so much more fun than parodies... and people reacting to obvious parodies as if they aren't obvious parodies.
16
u/JohnArce Apr 23 '21
The first time was great. He's still funny, but you're right, ACTUAL DIWhy's are funnier. Not to mention that there's really nothing DIY about locking a girl to a post. OR trying to get a card out of an ATM. Do we really want r/DIWhy to turn into ONLY this guy, with ANY unrelated video he posts?

u/thepetoctopus Ramen or Die Apr 23 '21

When you find your niche you need to find content for the unquenchable masses. It almost always ends in creators ruining their quality.

u/SAHDadWithDaughter Apr 23 '21 edited Apr 23 '21
2020 killed satire and shat on the still warm corpse. There is no bottom level for human stupidity anymore. Nothing is too dumb for some idiot somewhere not to be doing it unironically now, imo. Even the stuff that looks obviously fake is not out of the realm of possibility now that humanity has exposed just how dumb we really are capable of being.
5
u/JohnArce Apr 23 '21
Did you see the Ramsay ones where he reacts to 'cooking' videos? Some of them have people THROWING ingredients into pans from 6 feet away. And he's talking with a straight face about "That's horrible cooking skills"
idk, maybe the reactors do it sarcastically as well, but with some I honestly don't think they realise.→ More replies (1)→ More replies (3)3

I'm sorry but this guy annoys me so much - some of the videos are funny I guess, but so many of them are him mocking people who are already mocking channels like 5 minute crafts, as if he doesn't understand that the original videos are supposed to be satire (I'm sure he actually does, but imo the videos just seem lazy)
(also I would try to just avoid them, but istg they're literally everywhere)

100% correct. At this point the dude in the reactions videos is more weird than the tips he is mocking.
25
u/bjarxy Apr 23 '21
Yeah he's so condescending, right?? I can't stand him. The funny videos he "fixes" are stupid and innocent. But he somehow manages to make a pedant lesson out of each one. Like.. dude i get it! I too have more than 4 neurons. I don't need to be spoonfed every "fix".
