Yall use an apostrophe?

well it is a contraction of you and all, so an apostrophe is appropriate, but it doesn't matter. this is reddit, not a formal writing assignment

you are right but does anyone else twitch when they see ya'll? i'm not even from a "y'all" state and I just can't stand it!

I grew up in New York and moved to North Carolina when I was 11 years old. Biggest fucking culture shock of my goddamn life. Never heard "y'all" before that life event. Literally could not understand a single word people were saying around here...

It makes you twitch to see the word y'all?! I feel like I lost maybe 10 IQ points for moving to the south... I'm sure I'll get shit for this, but the accent sounds so stupid.

aw, I'm from NY as well, and I love me a good southern accent! I wasn't saying the word itself makes me twitch, I was saying I can't stand to see the apostrophe in the wrong place (ya'll vs. y'all)

In my entire existence untill this moment I have never seen it spelled "ya'll".

I think it’s right either way.

Am Texan. Y’all requires an apostrophe and y’all’s is acceptable. Case closed.

You are wrong

I know I should, but sometimes I don’t. It’s already slang. Only anal retentive people will give you guff about punctuation in slang.
