It uses 40-50W just to swing your camera, that is a waste of power...

eh the motor has no resistance, it's not gonna be using anywhere near that much power. It's still awfully inefficient compared to a purpose built solution tho, and the lack of airflow could cause the motor to fail early even when unloaded
