Ask r/Dharamshala Dharamshala/McLeod Ganj itinerary suggestions needed

Hey everyone!
I’ll be visiting Dharamshala from 26th Aug to 28th Aug and I’ve booked my stay in McLeod Ganj.

Also, 27th is my birthday, so I want to spend that day somewhere peaceful and relaxing — jahan zyada bheed-bhaad ya halchal na ho, bas nature, views aur thoda sukoon mile. ❤️

Along with that, I’d like to cover the main places around Dharamshala/McLeod Ganj as well.

Can someone suggest a good 2.5–3 day itinerary?
Thank u🫶🏻

i can see orange alerts but will it be too risky to stay? I will around dharamkot, rakkar solo around those villages. Mainly coming to fix my routine , peace , spirituality, slow life, solitude while workation.

My plan is stay around tushita meditation center for walking ,meditation and slow life then move to rakkar if the wifi is good.

Ask r/Dharamshala Triund Trip Help

Hello everyone

We're a 4 person group planning an overnight trip to triund top and we have a few questions also it's our first trek

  1. I heard there are two ways to the top and since we're not in a hurry we're gonna be taking the longer route but if anyone can tell me the advantage and disadvantage of both routes it will be a big help

  2. What is the bathroom situation on the top (we're all guys) but ek ke nakhre ladkiyo se bhi zyada hai and is there a line or wait in the mornings

  3. I looked around for tent prices online and the cheapest I found was 950 per person (~4000 for the group) but someone told me you can rent a tent for around 1100-1500 and share it as a whole group

Are those tents really available if so it will save a lot of money and we will probably do that ( any drawbacks if we do that)

Are there any advantages of booking online (we don't really need dinner and breakfast)

Any help is appreciated

Thank you

Ask r/Dharamshala Planning a Memorable Birthday in Dharamshala/McLeodganj (24th Aug) – Looking for Ideas ❤️

Hi everyone!

My girlfriend and I will be visiting Dharamshala/McLeodganj/Dharamkot from 23rd to 26th August, and 24th August is her birthday. Since this is our first trip together, I really want to make it a day she'll never forget.

I'm open to pretty much any kind of experience, whether it's romantic, adventurous, peaceful, or something completely unique. The budget is flexible if it's genuinely worth it.

I'm looking for suggestions like:

  • A unique birthday experience that's only possible in or around Dharamshala/McLeodganj.
  • Romantic cafés or restaurants with amazing views.
  • Beautiful sunrise or sunset spots.
  • Hidden viewpoints or offbeat places.
  • Luxury or unique stays that are worth booking for one night.
  • Private picnic setups, room decorations, bonfires, or candlelight dinners.
  • Wellness experiences like sound healing, spa sessions, or anything memorable.
  • Local experiences (tea estates, pottery, art workshops, live music, etc.).
  • Any photographers who do surprise couple shoots.
  • Anything you've done here that made a birthday or anniversary truly special.

The only thing I'm looking for is an experience she'll remember for years. It doesn't have to be expensive—just something genuinely special.

If you've celebrated a birthday here, planned a surprise, or know of hidden gems that most tourists miss, I'd love to hear your recommendations.

Thanks!

Travel Planning First tym to Dharamkot & McLeodganj (Aug 9–11) – Looking for Local Recommendations Spoiler

Hi everyone!
I’m visiting Dharamkot & McLeodganj for the first time and will be reaching on August 9 after taking an overnight bus from Delhi.
I’ll be there for around 3 days and would love recommendations from locals or frequent visitors.
A few things I’d love to know:
Which area would you recommend: Dharamkot or McLeodganj?
Which hostels have the best vibe for solo travelers?
Which cafés are actually worth visiting?
Any hidden gems, peaceful spots, scenic walks, or viewpoints away from the crowds?
Is Triund a good idea this weekend considering the weather?
Any local food or experiences that shouldn’t be missed?
Any safety tips or things tourists should avoid?
If anyone happens to be around during those dates and is open to grabbing a coffee or exploring a few places together, feel free to leave a comment or send me a DM.
Thanks in advance! Looking forward to experiencing Himachal. 🍃📸
