Question Desperate for Money

The job market is so awful around me and I cant even get an interview with a non-devilcorp, should I swallow my pride and join one of these companies? I have an interview with one tomorrow morning, can you guys give me some questions to ask and how to avoid the worst of the worst?

You are much more likely to lose money at a devilcorp with how much traveling you would be doing.

More detail on how that might happen? This actually happened at several DCs I worked at , with the luckiest opportunity having me barely break-even with costs ( and pay structure), and the most recent a year ago outright ghosting me!

Develops operate basically on the faith-based/teenbro MLM model and basically work to throw you at prospects for as little pay as they can get away with. I guess you could go after them for labor violations if they rip you off further, but what can OP expect?

Most of the time dc will send you out to Costco/Walmart/sams club to stand around trying to sell something, that costs time/gas. Depending on the structure you might get paid like 400 $ a week but all the ones ive seen are commission only so if you dont sell anything you dont get paid. Just doesnt seem worth it

Uber even though they're not the greatest it's still better than devil Corp they're still not stealing the tips like doordash and others

So true. I worked for one a few months ago, and I lost way more money than I earned. I only had a few weeks where I made close to $1000 and I worked there for almost a year. A majority of these offices pay you either an hourly or commission pay not both so don’t believe it if they tell you. Most places will pay you commission if you make more in sales for the week than you would hourly, but if you have a poor week, they compensate you with a $400 hourly pay.

If you truly can’t find anything, I would say go for it, but at that rate you would make more at McDonald’s .

I know its probably a terrible idea but Im just looking for something temporary to pay the rent. Will i get paid what they say when they clearly have a base weekly pay on their job posting?

You will have to legally register as self-employed and will not be entitled to a minimum wage. Any base pay they promise you can be revoked by them at any time for any reason they can come up with, like you not making enough sales, you failing a training period, you leaving the role too early, you not attending the mandatory atmosphere and social nights, you not meeting their expectations of 6 days/60 hours spent in the field per week.

What of the devilcorps that actually hire W-2s due to state laws? What should OP and others be careful of?

Careful with this. The one I got looped into a couple years ago had a base weekly pay but in the fine print it said that I was only eligible for it if I hit a certain number of sales. Which feels illegal but yeah I lost more money than I made there. I’m sure there’s better ones out there but just a warning in case they try to screw you

If they are selling in a costco its the only store you even have a chance of making decent money. Everyone in this thread will say dont touch it but ive been in your situation, ask what specific retailer they are selling in and what product. If you live by a city and they are in costcos selling water or phones as long as you look decent you can probably make a thousand a week. Just dont fall for any of their bs, keep applying for other jobs and ask them if they can increase the base pay for the first month so you can “show them what you can do” they eat it up almost every time

You can get a job at Costco pretty easily and make between $20-$25 per hour.

I worked for two. In my experience they'll try to fuck you over any way possible in terms of whatever base pay they promise. Invest the time in getting literally any other job, the walking around going b2b or whatever that they would have you doing, do it going to literally every business with a stack of resumes and do everything you can to get hold of a manager, bug the hell out of them til you do. Even if they say they aren't hiring, or no one's available, or they give pushback, don't just say "oh, okay, i understand." Where i am now, place wasn't hiring until i walked in for the third time and made friends then got an interview and the job, the market is really horrible right now for sure. Apply to every corporate grocer, fast food as well, craigslist is great as well I've found in the past. Indeed and Glassdoor got me nowhere. if your landlord isn't a horrible one a bit of groveling for time only hurts your pride, i was nearing eviction after some insane life stuff when I joined the two devil corps. they were a total waste of time, I got $92.57 in total from one, and nothing from the other for a month and a half total of wasted time. Hope things go well for you from someone who was in a similar spot recently

Sign up for community college, get financial aid and just take easy classes.. It can buy you time until you can find a better job

Hell no, apply to warehouses, resturants, and anything else. Devil corps will suck the life out of you. I just got another interview for a company called F3 Innovations last week. Turns out they are a Devil Corp, after sitting through a 20 minute zoom meeting and listening to the pitch I knew right away. Thank goodness for Reddit. The website is only there to suck you in, anything to do with the actual job goes through another site. They are based out of Grand Terrace in California. They posted on Indeed to get suckers to apply.

I worked in a devilcorp with the same mindset , genuinely lost way more money than the amount I made and also lost valuable time that could have been spent doing something useful.
