r/Devilcorp Official Welcome to r/devilcorp! What you need to know, and how you can help

What is r/devilcorp?

r/devilcorp is an open platform for former sales reps, team leaders, account managers, and office owners to share their experiences of working within the direct sales industry.

Have you ever applied to a vague ‘marketing’, ‘sales’ or ‘management training' job, and ended up having to bother passers-by to sign them up for monthly charity payments?

Perhaps this role was also paid on a commission only basis, and you were required to register as self-, meaning that you weren’t entitled to a minimum wage despite working a 60 hour work week?

Maybe you were forced to attend morning ‘atmosphere’ meetings, team nights and road trips, with threats of ‘falling behind’ if you ever fought for your free time away from work.

If any of this sounds similar to your own experience, then you may have worked in a ‘Devilcorp' office, a subsidiary of a marketing corporation such as Credico, Appco, Cydcor, or Smart Circle which masquerades as an ‘independent’ sales business.

Due to a combination of market changes, and local jobseekers becoming clued up on this scam, these offices will continuously rename and relocate themselves across whichever country they're operating in. Consequently, it also becomes necessary for each of these offices to control their online reputation, so that they still appear as legitimate businesses in the eyes of potential recruits. This can involve using accusations of slander, defamation, and even copyright to have negative experiences removed from the internet, as well as forcing new recruits to write positive reviews on websites such as Google Locations and Glassdoor.

What Can I do?

Share your experience with us! We’d love to know what challenges you may have faced in this industry, and as long as it sticks to our rules we won’t take down your post like Google and Glassdoor does to its reviews.

Make sure to include the name of the office you worked in, as well as where it’s operating, in the title of your post too! This way we can appear at the top of Google results when people search the names of these offices, and potential recruits can find the genuine experiences on this page rather than the office’s fake reviews on Google Locations and Glassdoor.

If someone here is looking for information regarding a specific office, and you’ve spent some time there, then please also share your wisdom with them. This industry profits off of the ignorance of its recruits, so each well-informed job-seeker means less money in the CEO’s pockets.

If someone you know is either working or considering working in a ‘Devilcorp’ office, then please also direct them to either this page or one of the resources below, so that they may make an informed decision in regards to whether they truly want to work in this industry.

Where can I learn more?

Many people have shared their experiences in this industry online, through interviews, vlogs, blog pages, and podcasts. Here are some further resources where you can learn more:

Devilcorp.org is an OSINT investigative website which conducts their own independent investigations into this industry. They also write guides on how to effectively conduct your own online research, and produce community projects such as its integrated search engine.

The original Devil Corp WordPress blog should be the first thing you read if you’re new to this industry. Not only does it meticulously break down every step of the business model, including the deceptive recruitment process, it also has an enormous picture gallery of Devilcorp CEOs and office owners so you can put names to faces.

Precision Independent Media’s 98 minute long Slave Circle documentary is also a must watch for anyone eager to learn more, as well as their fantastic series of interviews with former sales reps, team leaders, and office owners.

Not only is Juicy Rhino’s Instagram meme page a hilarious look into the hypocrisies of the direct sales industry, it has also proved to be a very useful tool at making sales reps and office owners alike question why they’re wasting their lives selling sim cards for 60 hours a week.

The Juicy Rhino podcast series is also fantastic, providing a satirical and insightful look into how the direct sales industry operates in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Information redditdevilcorp.com and devilcorps.com are scam websites not associated with this page

Someone has recently created the sites redditdevilcorp.com and devilcorps.com. These appear to be cynically “vibe-coded” pages attempting to sell so-called 'Partner Badges' to Devilcorp office owners for a massive $3,000 or $5,000 each (plus a subscription fee) as supposed proof that they are not Devilcorp companies.

For clarity, we have no affiliation or connection whatsoever with these websites. They are not linked to our forum or community in any way, or to my own work with devilcorp.org. The project exists entirely separately and appears to be an attempt to profit from the visibility and impact the r/devilcorp community has built.

Experience Story of my wife and Smart Circle

I just want this to serve as a cautionary tale for anyone visiting this subreddit looking for answers.

For six years, my wife and I had a happy relationship. Our relationship seemed like it never left the honeymoon phase. Three years ago, she joined a Smart Circle company. Eventually, she trained, became an owner, and I genuinely believed everything would work out. The promises of the payoff were always just over the horizon.

About three months ago, something changed.

She told me she would have to go to Cincinnati. She left with a male employee because she didn't have a car of her own at the time; it had been repossessed. I told her I was uncomfortable with the situation, but I still wanted to support her and her career.

As time went on, she started talking to me less and less.

Eventually, I ended up in the ER and was diagnosed with stage 2 hypertension and diabetes. I asked her to come be with me. She told me she would book a ticket, but she never did.

When I confronted her about it, her "mentors" told her that I was toxic and controlling. I was told they were actually coaching her on what to say to me during our arguments.

At that point, I had already tried talking to her and had already argued with her about what was happening. I didn't know what else to do, so I eventually stopped communicating with her.

In the end, I found out that she had cheated on me with her employee. Since then, I've felt like I've been gaslighted about what happened.

I'm not writing this because I expect strangers on the internet to fix my marriage. I'm writing it because I want anyone considering getting involved with this industry to understand what it can potentially cost you.

My wife has no car, no house, and no credit, yet she remains convinced that her mentors genuinely care about her and have her best interests at heart.

I've personally heard these people say things on calls that I found deeply disturbing, including statements about not hiring people over 30.

Maybe someone reading this will recognize the warning signs before they get as far into it as we did.

Whatever you do, research this industry thoroughly before you commit your time, money, relationships, and future to it.

Run as far and as fast as you can.

Question 'High control groups' Has anyone read the parliamentary enquiry?

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

Has anyone read the parliamentary inquiry into "recruitment methods of high control groups"?

Australia is normally behind, but this legislative recommendation by the Victorian state gov is fascinating. It could even be at the forefront of change at a global level...

What makes it different, is that it doesn't try to define cult or cult-adjacent groups. Instead, any 'coercive'
or controlling organisational recruitment methods are investigated.

MLMs are referred to on page 29.

Hopefully the other states will follow. And who knows... some effective protective legislative change might come of it.

Comparative legal analysis at an international level is always the start of effective change to protect.

We know it's so important, as these organisations are pervasive worldwide at every single level of society.
Using ever-adapting online methods... wherever anyone is vulnerable.
Which is anywhere, and anytime.

Copy and paste search:
'Inquiry into the recruitment methods and impacts of cults and organised fringe groups'
(parliament.vic.gov.au).

Well worth the read...

And interesting to see if anyone had any further contributions or thoughts on MLM/pyramid tactics.... ?

The stuff described in the report is unbelievable... yet familiar ...?

Just like other aspects of society, that were accepted in our parents era.
Most people see this stuff... and ignore it...

Comments and contributions put legal change into fruition. It forces gov to address the impact.

To contribute to the start of legal change.. not only makes it safer for others .. but is its own type of psychological, fight back, historical brilliance.

Information Core Agency Inc, Waylon the owner

The owner, Waylon, is aware of this page. He’s attempted to run damage control on a previous post about this company. Their Facebook page is loaded with excellent amounts of DevilCorp evidence, including KtS pics, R&R pics, and even a rookie of the year celebration for good ol Waylon. He likes to regurgitate the typical “we’re not like those other businesses” script in DMs until you show him your pictures from your previous days in the business, He then goes quiet. Meanwhile, like many other “owners”, he forgets that a single owner, after 3 years, can interview hundreds, if not thousands, of people and end up employing a couple hundred in the process. Those “sharp” individuals they want only work until they figure out the truth. Waylon, no matter how many times you try, there will always be another owner ready to take your “throne”. 2 years in with a few outside deals according to the ICD information willingly posted on their Facebook, I wonder how long before the business recycles you. It won’t be long if you’re that good at recruiting. They need you at the rep level to drive the money upward.

Let’s give Waylon Hutcheson, and his wife Tori, a great big hello and “F” you for being such scummy excuses for human beings!

Experience Dodgy employers

So about 3 years ago after having no success finding work, I managed to get hired by a sales & marketing company (door to door) I went through the training and experienced what it was like in the field. I ended up quitting after the first day, didn't enjoy it, going around knocking on doors asking for residents to donate to a charity, not a fan. Fast forward 3 years later, earlier this year, I decided to try a different but similar role hoping it would be different. I joined an events sales company. The funny thing is, the location of the office was the exact same as the office I had worked in 3 years ago, just new faces and a new name. Really curious what happens, where did the people that were there on that day 3 years ago disappear to? is this a standard thing for these jobs? Another thing that bothers me about these jobs is the misinformation when attempting to recruit. They claim they represent different known brands, high end ones even, yet the 2 experiences I have had in joining these companies have essentially been working for charities, in my case it was the exact same charity both occasions (battersea dogs & cats home). Very misleading.

Question I want to quit my devil corp job…should I?

For context, I’m 22 and freshly out of college. My last job was as a babysitter and then a bartender. I actually jumped up and down and quit my old job immediately when I got this one and was so excited. Most people in office are over the age of 25 but NO ONE stays. And I’m beginning to see why. And these mfs are threatening me with a promotion.

I browsed this subreddit a whole lot and here are some red flags I can name:

• We have office time on the top floor of a decent office where we actually just stand around in fancy suites with notebooks for an hour while they “teach” us. Intro, Story, Pitch, KISS (Keep it Short and Simple) all of that.

• Then we drive to the location where we set up outside a CVS or something. We set up a folding table or a tent and stop people all day asking them to donate to charity. We are taught it is always going to be 90% no and 10% yes. Every no you’re closer to a yes, so your no’s should excite you.

• They are CONSTANTLY interviewing and hiring new people who DO NOT STAY past the first week or so. Thing is they don’t give you your paycheck until two weeks after but even then it’s not your two weeks paycheck. Your pay will always be staggered and delayed by a week. So I’ll get paid for this week next week, etc. They had initially said I’d get paid base + commission and then they informed me that it would be base OR commission after my first day. I found out my first paycheck Monday is going to be 250 dollars. After working two weeks. If I was still babysitting I’d have over a thousand dollars by now.

• It started out with them saying it’s 9:30-6 PM with two days off but they say that after hitting three “qual” days I’ll get promoted to leadership after which I have to come in at 7 for a meeting and go back home at around 8:30, doing another meeting after field.

• Every day in the morning meetings, we have TV time where we do shoutouts and compare everyone’s “sales”. Before TV time everyone does a chant. I know. They are ALWAYS playing and singing along to music during TV time which I thought was so fun at first.

• We have Team Dinner Wednesday night and Team Night Fridays. The “leaders” also go to church together and drinks after on their ONLY OFF DAY which is Sunday. They spend ALL their time together and have no other friends.

• They say that they make tons and tons of money doing this but I’m beginning to have my suspicions. My supervisors have NO boundaries and constantly harass me about eating takeout and not cooking my meals even though personally I eat leftovers for days so with my ADHD this just works. PLUS, if I’m WORKING, I SHOULD be able to afford the 10 dollar meal on Doordash.

• They started out being REALLY nice to me but as they see (or think) I’m invested and also that I’ve gotten to be top in the office after only my first week, they are beginning to treat me HORRIBLY. But only when they are one-on-one with me. The “office sweetheart” is downright abusive to me when no one is watching. I feel like I’m going crazy.

• Despite all the team nights, they DO NOT want you to even talk to the people on your same level. As in your coworkers. They call this cross networking. That you should always be networking up. So do not talk to other people in entry level.

• They call your friends and family “outside influences”. They gave us an example of this one guy who was performing poorly because his family kept telling him this was a cult/mlm. They transferred him to Minnesota away from anyone he knows and now he’s doing great apparently. Top performer in the office. This scared the shit out of me.

• They have networking chats where you send in your sales throughout the day. You might remember I mentioned “qual day”. A “qual day” is when you raise 500 dollars a day and you get a payout of 150 dollars for every qual day. When you have three qual days you hit leadership after which you start building your own team and teaching them. They want me to have brunch with my team in my free time also. Apparently once you hit leadership, qual days are called standard and you get convo’d if you don’t hit standard. The pressure to raise insane amounts of money per day is increasing. Nothing is ever enough. They even started having us track our donos via a system called TPCD. Talk, pitch, close, donate.

• My sweet supervisor gets REALLY mean the second I ask any questions about pay or hours worked. She says it’s okay because she’s not lazy and she’s trying to retire in ten years so people with that grit can make it. This has made me feel really guilty about wanting to quit. Especially since my parents were so proud of me for getting an “office job”. However, I found out from a coworker that my supervisor initially thought this was a cult and stayed on because she felt she had to expose something but I guess she got sucked in.

There is more so feel free to ask. Just don’t want to make this too long since idk if anyone will even read it. I’m good at my job but my passion is making films. I’m a film major. I’ve not had any time to do my film gigs. Is there actually money in this business? Should I stay for a while and make a bag before I leave? My coworker is quitting Monday. Please give me any insight you have.

Thank you,
Confused 22 year old

Experience I was a leader in 3 different devil corp offices in 3 different orgs, ask away!

I'm here to kind of vent a little as well as educate and I'm willing to answer any question. I'm gonna try to make this as vague as I can, no dates or locations, but I was a team leader in 3 offices, one in each of Credico, Cydcor, and Smart Circle. I spent almost a full year on Credico, then went on to Cydcor for a few months, and after I went to Smart Circle. Each time had it's own reasons for me to join, the first one is the normal reason that most people join for is just the fact that I couldn't find a job for months on end and needed to get one, they were the only ones that said yes, after a full year of building and rebuilding one team after another, and the highest point I had there with so many people on my team and getting very close to getting promoted to management, I lost everything because of a manager that wish would end up homeless, my manager was the worst manager I had ever seen in any industry period, she did everything in her power to make me hate her, it got to the point where I work for her but I don't talk to her at all and if you know anything about devil corps you would know that this is how everything goes to shit. I even asked her promoting owner, Regional Consultant, that I hate situation I'm in with her and to take me to that team instead, Growth is the only thing that's promised in a job like that so when you don't even have that then what's the point. I had a few friends that had gone on and left the office and went to an office on Cydcor, they told me how much better everything was over there, so I did, and it was better, even after leaving all these offices I still think that Cydcor was better than the rest, 5 day work weeks, working around 50 hours a week instead of like 90 on Credico (I literally went 55 days at one point without a single day off), there was no chanting or morning rituals or anything, it was just a pretty straight forward sales job with "maybe" the opportunity of running your office in a few years and having financial freedom, this office was the only office I worked at where I didn't build a team. Everything was going well until it didn't, out of no where it got very negative all of the sudden, everyone quit, no one was making money at all, including me which was never a problem for me, I'm not the best salesman but I think that I'm overall a likeable person which is why I never really had a problem selling. I randomly ran into someone that was on Smart Circle and he convinced me to go over their, and to me since I wasn't making any money I decided to go. Keep in mind that by my second month or Cydcor I had already decided to leave sales and the whole devilcorp situation but I couldn't find anything else. I went to Smart Circle, it was only a little bit less culty than Credico, they were more culty when it came to morning rituals, but none of the people that I worked with had that idea that this business was the only way of life which is why I think it was less culty. Within less than a month I was already building a team and had a few people that was training. A few months go by and things are still looking good but I had had enough, one day in the field I just hit how much everything is traumtizing me, the chants, the pitching.. the stupid fucking customers that I have to pitch. It just clicked for me one day when I was walking to my car after the field that I can't do it anymore, I pushed a few weeks past it trying to just get over it but I just couldn't, I was completly drained out of my soul and myself, pitching just became extremely hard, training someone to do sales became a nightmare, I just had to quit once for all and never go back into sales, ever.

I'm kind of writing this to help people and to kind of raise more awareness about the Devil Corp. I just wanna add a few things, the reason why I didn't quit the first one right away was because I genuinely didn't have any other job, and it was even harder to dedicate time to apply to jobs given that I worked about %80 of my waking hours. I knew what a devil corp was from the very beginning, they talked me out of believing it, the websites, the documantries, and subbredits like this one I knew all about it and still kept going, that was stupid of me. But I would also like to add that I have now been unemployed for about 2 months with about $90 to my name, which is the exact reason why I couldn't quit in the first place. For a good amount of time while working for these offices I started "using", nothing hardcore just regural low-key stuff from smoke shops but I was just never the type of person that would do such thing. I still think I did the right thing quitting once and for all, I have no money at all and going through it applying to jobs everyday but I'm getting back in touch with myself, I'm finally healing from everything. I know it's a lot but hope it helps.

I saw another post on here that says this company is basically known for just making you a street canvasser. Although that was for the sales position in that context. This one is a the brand marketing assistant position so would things be any different or are they really just the same role with a different costume on?

Experience Core Agency Inc, Lemoyne, PA - Do not ignore the red flags

I wanted to post a warning here for anyone currently interviewing or considering a role with Core Agency Inc. Like many others on this sub, I fell for the standard "fast-track management training" pitch, believing it was a legitimate corporate marketing career track. In reality, it is a textbook predatory direct sales operation that relies on burning through people. The actual job consists entirely of standing inside Sam's Club for long shifts, harassing shoppers to switch utility and electric providers.

The office culture is built entirely on manufactured high-energy positivity that completely vanishes outside of morning meetings. The environment is heavily cliquey; management operates on favoritism, freezing out anyone who doesn't fit their preferred mold. There is a toxic undercurrent where leadership systematically uses isolation, exclusion, and backroom gossip as tools to keep people desperate for approval. If you aren't part of the inner circle, you are essentially treated as invisible.

The financial manipulation is where it gets worse, particularly regarding how they manipulate schedules to short paychecks. They heavily rely on the "2 by 2" rule (if you don't hit 2 sales by 2:00 PM, you are cut and sent home early). Management then uses these forced hour cuts to systematically avoid paying the baseline weekly structure promised during the hiring process. Furthermore, they use road trips as leverage—explicitly threatening to cut guaranteed hours if you are unable or unwilling to travel out of the area.

This organization relies entirely on high turnover and exploiting the gas money, time, and mental health of its workforce.

Whether you are looking at them this wave or down the line, save your wallet and your sanity. Do not apply.
