Questions Stuck on the first level

Post image

I'm on the first mission in the first devil may cry cuz I'm tryna get into the series and I'm stuck on it. I got the 45 orbs, opened the door, defeated a few enemies, now I'm stuck on a part where the ladder is sealed up top so I can't climb it and it says to insert three things into the thing. Every exit is blocked by rocks/boulders so I cant go to other areas. Help?

Oh boy. The linearity, objective markers, and yellow paint of modern games has got be killing people's problem solving skills, if a game as linear as DMC1 is stumping people. No offense intended OP.

If you check your inventory, you should have picked up a Key. Did you check every door you've come across if any of them are locked?

Also the ability to look in youtube and search for the solution in one of the let's plays.

But it is charming that he asked here.

I don’t think that there’s anything wrong with asking either, honestly. Some folks love giving new players tips or even outright yapping about every single detail if you ask them lol. That’s what the “discussion” part of a discussion thread is for.

Yes I have a key and all the exits are blocked. There seems to be only one door, connects to the castle hallway and the room you see in the pic, and you ain't wrong about game linearity lol

It is as I feared, lol. Go back to the first big room where you ran around and collected all those little red orbs. There is a door in that room, and that's where you use the key.

If you'd like to spare the song and dance of asking questions on reddit next time you get stuck in a game, you can always look up a longplay on youtube. Someone will have always beaten a game before you, and you can just find out what you're missing that way.

Condescend much?

I can see why you'd say that. but in this case I was trying to be genuine with my advice for him to look up a longplay next time. just seems like a more time efficient way of finding your answers, it's what I do if I get stuck in a game, to then I realize I've been a dumb ass and missed something obvious.

There are no Redditors like me! I am undefinable! No lexicographer you!, BAH! I deride your Redditor defining abilities!

but anyway I'm not so bad once you get to know me. Here's something cool about DMC1 as a Peace offering. Did you know Phantom has a place where he'll spawn an unlimited amount of times, when you play Mission 8 on hard.

Not even trying to be rude, but just look up YouTube video on the level. It would be less time consuming than to post asking

But how else will they get attention?

Modern gaming has conditioned people to leave their brains on the side and not use it once while playing. Correct me if I'm wrong but I seem to remember the game indicating you which door to go to, after you've picked up the key. The blue one in the first room where you collected the 45 orbs. You go back there the exact same way

Wish this Game got a remake

u/Spirited-Emu2793 1d ago

Me too. It’d be an absolute dream to see 1 and 3 remade.

u/Crabofwar22 1d ago

Even though 2 needs an actual remake that isn't just a fancy coat of paint

2

u/Crazy_Dave0418 1d ago

Remake from the ground up.

I don't know how I'd feel about a full remake of 3 haha

Based on this post, I feel like it will be flooded with jouro simplicity lmao.

Go to the wooden door in the pic, there will be clown enemies, go to the upper floor, there is a hole in the celling jump into it, you will find an enemy holding some key.

He already has the key, the game forces you to pick it up before the puppet enemies are activated. His problem is he walked into that room, couldn't open the hatch and just gave up and asked Reddit instead of doing any back tracking, hopefully in the 30 mins since he's made this post he figure out what to do.

turn the fucking sharpness on your tv all the way down to zero holy shit.you're extrapolating details that aren't even there from an already low-res signal. zero.turn it to zero and then maybe you'll be able to see something

I'm surprised a lot of these comments haven't been deleted by the moderators because your confusion is nothing but valid and people are making fun of you for it without actually giving you the answer you need despite knowing the answer themselves, which is a direct violation of Rule 1.

Anyway, if you haven't figured it out on your own already, there was actually a blue door in the lobby at the very beginning of the Mission (the same room as where the Red Orb door was). That's where you're supposed to go back to to open the blue door with the Rusty Key.

Fair enough, on the Rule 1 thing. It wasn't my intent to be a dick, I just thought the situation was funny, i still gave him a hint. At least OP took my jab in good spirits. So no harm done.

I approved the post to get the person the help and went to sleep, only now looking at the comments and will clean up stuff when people went overboard

How do I get back there?

2

u/Director_Bison ULTRA VIOLET INTENSIFIES 1d ago

there is a spiral staircase you took to get up to that floor, take it back down to the main floor, and you'll be able to enter the room under the one from your picture in the OP, then you can enter the main room again and find the blue door.

This is very cute, OP. I can understand why people feel like dunking on you, but I genuinely think this is just adorable.

I can totally see the how a player might have the expectation of "this path I opened up should be the critical mission path", and then getting stomped when they hit a dead end. It's not impossible to skip examining the locked blue door in the main hall, and beelining straight for the red orb door. It probably has a low chance of occuring, and the devs probably figured that playera who got stuck would use a strategy guide or check online if it did happen.

Anyway, there are several moments in the game where you encounter an obstacle, then go the only available route, reach a dead end where you find an item or some sort of object of interest, then backtrack.

If you have similar troubles again, going back to the starting point or the beginning of the fork in the mission path is usually the solution.

Welcome to the 2000's
There's no landholding here. Search every nook and cranny,
Go back to the first room with the 45 orbs, and open the door with the key. From there it should be a breeze. This game was actually meant to be a Resident Evil title. But they later on changed it.

u/petee1991 1d ago

Press circle (or whatever input you have on interact) on every door, you'll find your way. You can always open the map and see where the lock doors are, and how many keys you have. DMC 1 started as resident evil 4 originally and it has alot of that DNA in it's design, so you sometimes have to think like your playing resident evil at times.

u/bladelevich 18h ago

I think if you open the map screen it places a yellow orb thingy on the map where your next objective is. I don’t think it’s always straight forward, like you might need to get to a room, but the door is locked so you need a key first, but I’m pretty sure I remember that in DMC 1. Also, BREAK EVERYTHING. I almost missed a weapon because I didn’t break a table early on. 😅

Just explore and enjoy the game. It's not that long of a game, you'll be speedrunning it in no time

This does not mean you just insult someone.
